He demonstrates that effective communication enhances cooperation, leadership, customer connections, and overall business performance based on his more than 15 years of experience managing LifterLMS as a wholly remote firm. He highlights that writing is an essential communication skill since it facilitates idea organization, improves documentation, generates more powerful marketing material, and even facilitates more efficient use of AI tools. Chris also describes LifterLMS’s methods for maintaining remote teams’ alignment without overburdening them with meetings. He talks about quarterly planning using the Shape Up framework, organized monthly all-hands meetings that highlight individual, client, and business successes, and the practice of recording ideas in shared Google Docs before they are forgotten. In order to keep everyone on the team informed and improve teamwork, he advises using Slack for open, public discussions rather than private messaging wherever feasible. Beyond technologies and procedures, Chris emphasizes the significance of fostering a supportive remote workplace culture by honoring cultural differences and communication preferences, recording corporate expertise, and providing chances for colleagues to bond via virtual game days. Additionally, he offers productivity advice on how to communicate more quickly and effectively by using voice-to-text software and comprehensive AI suggestions. His main point is that effective communication is a lifetime talent that enhances leadership, marketing, teamwork, and all facets of managing a profitable internet business. 2025 WordPress LMS Buyer’s Guide Exclusive Download! I’m the co-founder of LifterLMS, the most powerful learning management system for WordPress. Stay to the end. I’ve got something special for you. Enjoy the show What’s going on? It’s Chris from LifterLMS, and this is a solo podcast episode with just me, where we’re gonna talk about how to communicate effectively at a remote company. I actually had a team member suggest this topic for a podcast. I’ve been communicating in a remote company, both internally and publicly, for over 15 years, and I realized I have a lot of tips and tricks to share with you today and level up your communication ability at a remote company, whether you’re- have an education company or you’re running an agency or running any kind of online business. So the first thing I would say is to value communication at the highest level. So what do I mean by that? One of our top company values, and we only have six or seven, is clear communication. So we value communication very highly at all levels, both internally in how we write, in how we market, in how we send emails, in how we treat each other as team members, clients, users, prospects, and all of that. So clear communication is super important to us at LifterLMS. If you value clarity of communication, you can build a better company that’s much easier to run, manage, that you will actually enjoy. Good communication means clarity of thought. So the way I like to think about this- Is writing is the ultimate form of communication. So writing is not just for making blog posts or building a sales page. We use it all of the time. We use it for figuring out what we’re gonna say in a video. We take notes, we send emails, we do social media content. We write all over the place, and especially now ...

  • Why Every Serious YouTuber Should Build an Online Course

Get WP Fusion Now In this LMScast episode, Chris Badgett discusses why any serious YouTuber should create an online course rather than depend solely on YouTube revenue. He contends that the toughest part is over for creators who have already developed an audience; the next stage is to transform that following into a business they own. By utilizing LifterLMS to offer courses from their own WordPress website, producers can make a steady income without relying on sponsorships, ad revenue, or shifting algorithms. In his discussion of the distinction between renting and owning a platform, Chris explains how marketplaces such as Udemy may restrict long-term growth, price, branding, and customer connections. On the other hand, creators have complete control over their content, student data, email list, price, and company when they own a WordPress website. Instead of relying on outside platforms, he urges YouTubers to create digital assets under their own control. Additionally, he suggests that rather than attempting to teach all they know, designers should focus their courses on a single change. YouTubers should listen to audience inquiries, study comments, use polls, or create waitlists to evaluate their ideas before devoting time to developing a course. Rather than waiting for perfection, Chris suggests beginning with a single, basic course, launching it immediately, and making improvements over time. Chris also emphasizes that producers who own their platforms and establish direct connections with their audiences will be the ones who shape the future of online education. He thinks people will always value learning from real people with genuine experiences and knowledge, even as AI and shifting digital trends continue to transform content creation. Creators may develop a long-term company that isn’t reliant on algorithms or third-party platforms, diversify their revenue streams, and enhance their personal brand by integrating YouTube with an online course. Creators may develop a long-term company that isn’t reliant on algorithms or third-party platforms, diversify their revenue streams, and enhance their personal brand by integrating YouTube with an online course. In general, Chris urges YouTubers to concentrate on building long-term companies rather than just views and subscribers. He suggests utilizing YouTube as a potent lead-generation tool that directs students to online courses hosted on a website they completely own and control, producing enduring value for both artists and their audiences, rather than viewing it as the ultimate destination. 2025 WordPress LMS Buyer’s Guide Exclusive Download! Get WP Fusion Now Ryan Moore, the founder of PressPrimer and a previous leader at Uncanny Owl, discusses evaluation, one of the most important but often disregarded facets of online learning, in this LMScast episode. Ryan contends that whether or whether students really learn, remember, and apply the material being taught is the fundamental test of a successful learning program, despite the fact that many LMS conversations center on course development, marketing, and student registration. By offering sophisticated assessment tools that concentrate on gauging learning outcomes, student performance, and information retention, Press Primer was developed to assist instructors in going beyond simple quizzes and completion monitoring. Instead of attempting to become another all-in-one LMS platform, Ryan continues, Press Primer adopts a specific approach to evaluation. Specifically, the solution focuses on making WordPress quizzes and assignments better. It provides sophisticated question banks, thorough reporting, processes for grading assignments, AI-assisted question creation, and performance analytics to aid teachers in determining not only if students passed a test but also the reasons behind their success or failure. Press Primer assists course designers, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, certification providers, and corporate training departments in creating more robust learning experiences that can show quantifiable educational value by focusing solely on assessments. The distinction between true learning and course completion is a prominent subject throughout the conversation. Ryan proposes the idea of spaced repetition, a method of teaching that asks pupils questions that they are likely to forget over time. 2025 WordPress LMS Buyer’s Guide Exclusive Download! Ryan is one of those people like me who’s absolutely obsessed with e-learning and WordPress and creating value for free, and helping online educators fulfill their goals and build cool stuff. Ryan’s the creator of Press Primer. We’re gonna dive into that, but first, welcome to the show, Ryan. Thanks, Chris. It’s great to see you again.Yeah. I’m happy to ner- nerd out with you and get into online education and WordPress and helping the education entrepreneurs out there and the e-learning site builders. And one of the things I love about e-learning is all the various niches and use cases and different things. It really feels like Press Primer is filling a need in certain use cases and niche scenarios. So let’s just start there. What is Press Primer as a solution? What does it solve for education entrepreneurs and e-learning site builders? Ryan Moore: Sure. So what I’m trying to do with Press Primer is basically make assessment better in WordPress so that educators can better measure learning and assess student performance. So for now, I’m tackling quizzes first, so multiple choice, true, false, multiple answer, just to make them better, basically. So looking at what LMS plugins are doing and offering a solution for with a more academic focus that really looks at performance evaluation. So making sure that people are driving learning from a course and able to apply it. And then also taking a look from the assignment side as well, so ...

They talk about how AI is enabling creators to develop courses, produce content, build software prototypes, and automate complex tasks more quickly than ever before. Chris provides real-world examples of utilizing AI to produce comprehensive product specifications and functional software prototypes in a matter of minutes, while Emily discusses how course designers may utilize AI tools to develop course structures, lesson content, and learning materials. They stress that while AI makes it easier to create, it also increases the bar for quality, making knowledge, originality, and well-considered user experiences more crucial than before. Key points from the discussion include: AI is speeding up software development and course design, enabling developers to transform concepts into functional products far more quickly than with conventional techniques. The threshold for quality is rising, so merely producing material is no longer sufficient. Delivering original ideas, improved learning opportunities, and superior instructional material must be the main priorities of successful course designers.AI helps entrepreneurs, educators, and company owners boost areas in which they may lack experience, acting as a potent helper rather than a total replacement for humans.Because students still need human connection, individualized instruction, accountability, and mentorship all of which technology cannot offer coaching and community are still very important. With AI technologies improving website development, content management, and commercial operations rather than displacing these ecosystems, WordPress and open-source platforms are well-positioned for the AI era.Self-directed learning is becoming more and more crucial as people who constantly acquire new skills, explore, and adapt will be better equipped for possibilities in the future. With AI offering immediate access to knowledge and human educators increasingly concentrating on deeper learning, critical thinking, mentoring, and practical application, traditional education paradigms are under increasing strain.AI-related fear and anxiety are understandable, yet history demonstrates that technology advancements can bring forth both disruption and new opportunities. As mundane jobs are automated, human abilities like creativity, leadership, empathy, communication, and relationship-building become even more vital. Both speakers urged audiences to embrace innovation while remaining connected to real-world experiences, communities, personal connections, and well-being, emphasizing the need of striking a balance between technology and humans. The episode’s main takeaway is that AI is radically altering how individuals start companies, design educational opportunities, and pick up new skills. But those that mix the effectiveness and power of AI with genuine human skill, creativity, mentoring, and community-building will be the ones who prosper. 2025 WordPress LMS Buyer’s Guide Exclusive Download! Get WP Fusion Now Chris Badgett argues in this LMScast episode why LMS and CRM should be handled as a single, integrated system rather than as distinct tools by any professional online learning company. He highlights that whereas CRM technologies handle marketing, automation, and customer connections, platforms like LifterLMS handle the learning process. WP Fusion, which serves as the connection layer that synchronizes student activity with marketing platforms and enables sophisticated automation across WordPress-based educational websites, is the missing component between them. He explains how WP Fusion unifies important WordPress plugins and features into a single solution. Supported platforms mentioned in this LMScast episode are below. LMS Platform LifterLMS Form Builders Gravity Forms WPForms Fluent Forms Ninja Forms Formidable Forms E-Commerce Platform WooCommerce CRM & Marketing Platforms ActiveCampaign HubSpot FluentCRM GoHighLevel Salesforce Mailchimp Kit (ConvertKit) Course developers may automate tagging, segmentation, and customer journeys based on actual student activities, such as enrollments, lesson progress, quiz completions, and payments, thanks to this broad interoperability. Chris also emphasizes how these linkages produce actual business results. After a student enrolls in a free course, for instance, they may immediately start a nurturing sequence; after they finish the course, they may get certification emails or upsell efforts. He highly advises creating a free course lead magnet as a growth engine and maintaining a straightforward CRM structure that relies on tags and custom fields for segmentation while utilizing a few core lists (prospects, free users, and customers). He adds that strong eCommerce automations like cart abandonment recovery, refund-based tagging, and lifetime value tracking are made possible by integrating WP Fusion with WooCommerce. In general, the episode presents WordPress as a more adaptable substitute for all-in-one platforms such as Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, or Podia because LifterLMS, WooCommerce, form plugins, and WP Fusion combine to create a fully customizable, scalable, and automation-rich ecosystem for expanding online education businesses. 2025 WordPress LMS Buyer’s Guide Exclusive Download! I’m the co-founder of LifterLMS, the most powerful learning management system for WordPress. Stay to the end. I’ve got something special for you. Enjoy the show Hello, and welcome back to another episode of LMScast. My name’s Chris, and today I’m doing a solo episode about how every LMS website needs a CRM and a bridge that connects them, and that bridge is WP Fusion. If you’re building an LMS website, every single one I’ve ever built, I would recommend to every single LifterLMS user to also install WP Fusion for seamless connection to over 60 plus CRMs. Now, let me unpack this a little bit. There’s a lot of terminology here. So LMS stands for Learning Management System. CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. But a CRM also includes the basics of just having an email list that you can send broadcast emails to, and doing advanced marketing automation And there’s other things you can do in CRMs as well in terms of having sales pipelines and other fancy lead scoring and contact records and all of this. But at the fundamental level, the most important thing is that a learning management system is where students or learners take action and they do things. The CRM is where the business decides what to say and how to automate parts of their business process. The...
