Jesus sends seventy-two disciples out in pairs with urgency, instructing them to rely on His authority to preach the kingdom of God and heal the sick. They return rejoicing that even demons submit to them, and Jesus affirms their authority over spiritual forces. The Holy Spirit later empowers believers, giving them boldness to witness and an outward expression of Spirit baptism through speaking in tongues. Ultimately, the true evidence of the Spirit’s work is not just tongues but a life transformed for bold, public faith.

The early believers in Acts lived in unity, sharing their possessions selflessly, and witnessing the powerful work of the Holy Spirit in their community. This sermon emphasizes the Holy Spirit’s divine nature, personal presence, and active role in believers’ lives, urging a reverent, obedient relationship with Him. It challenges listeners to recognize the Spirit’s holiness, to live transparently, and to cultivate a deep, sincere connection with God.

When Joel prophesied that God would "pour out," to the people. They expected judgment, but God had something different in mind: His Spirit! Acts 1:4–8 captures Jesus' final instructions to His disciples before His ascension. He commands them to wait in Jerusalem for the promised Holy Spirit, assuring them that they will receive power to be His witnesses locally and globally. This passage underscores that the mission of spreading the gospel is not undertaken by human strength but through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. It serves as a reminder that, even today, believers are called to rely on the Spirit's power to fulfill their divine purpose.
