  • Season 3, Ep. 5 - Most Beautiful Car Ever Made
    2025/06/18

Most beautiful car ever made? One question, two answers. The first won't surprise you, the second will make you thump your steering wheel rage. To give themselves something to do in the lazy hiatus (which seems to be a bit of a theme this year), Nick and Sam pondered what the most beautiful car ever made was according to a) everyone, and b) no one but ourselves. What drab piece of automotive history would we defend as being a secret stunner?

  • Season 3, Ep. 4 - Old Names, New Cars, Newer Drivers and the Motorsport Festival 2025
    2025/04/13

Okay. Right, um. So, yep, seatbelt, keys in the ignition - don't turn them yet! No, so. Okay, foot on brake. Middle one. Wait, left one, I guess. NOW turn the keys, okay, STOP turning them! Engine is on! Now, uhm, right. Put it in 'D', handbrake off, indicate, check mirrors, okay wait, adjust your mirrors. Bugger. Forgot about that one. Okay, still indicating, now release brake and move off slowl-SLOWly, now steer. STEER. HOW?? Hand over under hand ten and two unless you're moving the wheel in which case ...

Nick and Sam have been pondering the big questions: how the hell do you teach someone to use a steering wheel?

We also report on the return of the Great Car Names, but perhaps not the things that made them great. It's like a high school reunion where everyone's gotten a little more ... comfortable?

    Enjoy!

  • Season 3, Ep. 3 - All Japan Day 2025! Number plates, and the Ferrari Enzo
    2025/02/26

There were Hondas, there were Toyotas, there were Nissans, there were probably Subarus and Isuzus and Daihatsus and even the odd Mazda. There were high ones, low ones, ones that went even lower than that, and then a couple which were deffo lowered, but not on purpose, because these things tend to be pretty homemade. But the one thing that was definitely there was love. And a yakitori stand that took a while to serve you, but was worth the wait.

All Japan Day 2025 was an absolute all-timer, and your favourite car-based podcasters, Nick and Sam, were there to capture it all from the mostly comfy front seats of a mostly stock R33. We even cover the sad fella in the forgotten Gallardo getting repeatedly outshone on the window-fogging drive-past by a lady in a classy Commodore. If you know her, you know her, and we happy to wave as we dove back in to really appreciate a properly turned out Corona.

  • Season 3, Ep. 2 - Honda, Trucks and Pre-All Japan Day
    2025/02/19

Friends! Drivers! Patient Passengers! Lend us your ears. And your favourite memories of the Honda Motor Corporation. Nothing says confidence in a car company like sending their new F1 drivers off to work in a 30-year-old NSX (hilariously covered in Season 1, Ep. 7) just after deciding not to go dancing with Nissan.

But we digress. Which we also do a lot of in this latest episode. Get your fill (premium, of course) on truck talk and exactly what we think of the Toyota Tundra (not premium, dudes. Definitely not premium).

Listen in, and come on down to our live pod recording at All Japan Day! Wigley Reserve, Glenelg, 23rd of February!

  • Season THREE: The keys were in the visor. It really happened.
    2025/01/06

They said we'd never make it. They said we'd never get this far. They ... said that we smell like butts.

They were wrong. Mostly. Two out of three. Because Nick and Sam (and their butts) are BACK. Yes, we are doing the year per season thing, and dumping the clutch with a tyre-smoking big bumper episode - now with extra puns! Come with us as we relive Culture Day #3 and how we almost almost drove a million-dollar sports car. Almost.

Plus, we really did drive the new benchmark in electric cars: the Porsche Macan.

Also, hello again to our new listener, Ben! We mull over what a "collaboration" really means in the car world, as well as feeling smug about how quickly we knew what car you meant when you mentioned "collaboration" (no, not that one. The other one).

Plus all the news from car shows, holiday drives, and could you really build your own car? 3D printing? AI? Sassy robots? It's all closer than you think on the brand new season of ...

  • Season 2, Ep. 14 - Cops! Non-car car stuff! Depreciation Appreciation!
    2024/11/25

Lo, let the confetti cannons of depreciation thunder across the bonnets of departing four-door European sedans as they glide from the dealership floor. May their astronomical prices melt through their first-owner's fingers like so much truffled butter. And! Let us scroungers of the streets, gather up those princely conveyances, swathed in the leather of only the most endangered creatures, powered by engines which can loosen hip-replacements from 30 yards, for only marginally more coin than a top-spec Camry.

Depreciation Appreciation Month has arrived! On this episode, Nick and Sam scroll through the carsales app, making increasingly impressed grunts at the hilarious price-to-luxury ratios of Aston Martin, Porsche and (someone has to) Maserati.

We give out terrible gift ideas, and poke mild fun at the thin blue line, but only in a loving, non-enforceable way.

  • Season 2, Ep. 13 - Adelaide Rally, The Terrible Truth of the Purosangue, LFA
    2024/11/18

Legions of JGFADs! Welcome to a sizzling episode not to be missed. Because, even though we promised no more talk of the controversial Ferrari CX-30 sorry Purosangue, Nick has finally solved the puzzle. And it's not some tedious one-eyed whinging about how sports car makers shouldn't build SUVs - what is this? Porsche Cayenne, Season 1? The one where everyone who doesn't want a 911 suddenly has opinions about a frankly floundering German marque they never would have had the taste or bravery to buy anyway?

No. We have a real reason. Tremble, Ferrari. Tremble!

Plus, adventures of the Southern Hemisphere's finest tarmac rally, and the current and future modern classic to end them all: the Lexus LFA.

  • Season 2, Ep. 12 - Puros, Servos, Cheapo Enzos
    2024/10/14

Come in. Sit down. Not there. That chair is broken. So's that one. If fact, why not stand? Yes, let's all stand and admire this very, very cheap Ferrari and wonder how we even got here. From normal, mortgage-having, bill-paying, respect-mostly-commanding human beings, into nearly destitute, futon-sleeping, tea bag-reusing Ferrari owners. That's right. Ferrari owners. The prancing horse, the great noise, the furrowed brow, everything.

Well, mostly. Almost. We're close. And in this episode, find out exactly how close we are to figuring out the final step in the journey from bedroom poster to in-the-metal reality.

Also, we talk service stations. Man, those things are real cultural centres. Like yogurt.

And it turns out the Purosangue isn't that weird after all.
