John Kavanaugh is a composer, lyricist, and musical director who received 9 Emmy nominations and was awarded the 2014 Daytime Emmy Award for "Sofia the First" Main Title theme song. John is also one of the songwriters on "Sofia the First: Royal Magic," that was just released on Disney Jr. and Disney+.

John wrote songs for Disney's first Latina princess, Elena of Avalor, and penned the songs and served as music director on the series "Alice's Wonderland Bakery." His songs can also be heard in the Disney Channel series Vampirina: Teenage Vampire and in several hit movies, including the Winnie The Pooh film "Springtime with Roo," Nickelodeon's "Globehunters," and "Descendants 3." For "Descendants 3" he wrote the song "My Once Upon A Time" for Dove Cameron and that soundtrack album rose to #1 within the first hour of release. It was also nominated for a Billboard Music Award. John also served as musical director on the first season of The New Mickey Mouse Club for the Disney Channel.
