A man pleads guilty to killing a Jewish protester — and a California judge is signaling as little as zero to one year in county jail. Is justice being served?
In November 2023, Paul Kessler — a 69-year-old pro-Israel protester — was struck in the head with a megaphone at a rally in Thousand Oaks, California. He fell. He died. The man responsible, Loay Alnaji, has now pleaded guilty to felony manslaughter and felony battery — admitting he used a weapon and that the victim was particularly vulnerable. The maximum sentence is four years in state prison. The judge is signaling this is a probationary case — meaning Alnaji could serve anywhere from zero to one year in county jail.
The DA objected. The family objected. And sentencing is June 25th — nothing is final yet.
Los Angeles criminal defense attorney James Blatt joins Stella News to break down how this happened, what it means for justice and community safety, and what you can do right now.
⚠️ SENTENCING IS JUNE 25TH — SHOW UP.
