Jews and Samaritans literally hated each other. We go through a brief history of why. Jews would never pass through the samaritan area despite it being so much shorter to do so to go from Judea in the South to Galilee in the North. Why did Jesus deliberately do this? Why did He speak to a woman in public when that was not acceptable at the time and a Samaritan woman at that?
He Wanted to teach his disciples that the person is more important than cultural or religious differences. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.
