FCF: True Religion — The Gospel Changes Everything!

What does genuine faith actually look like?

In James 1:18–27, we discover that true religion is not merely what we say we believe—it is a life that has been transformed by the Gospel. When Jesus saves us, He changes our hearts, our conduct, and our purpose.

In this message, we look at three marks of True Religion:

1. True Religion Is Powerful Enough to Change Me — The Gospel gives us new life and transforms the heart. Our words, thoughts, and actions should increasingly reflect the work of Christ in us.
2. True Religion Is Pure Religion — Because God has called us to holiness, we must guard our lives against the stains of sin and the influences of the world. Grace is not an excuse to continue in sin; grace empowers us to pursue holiness.
3. True Religion Is Purposeful Enough to Send Me — Genuine faith moves us toward people in need. James specifically points us toward the fatherless, widows, and afflicted. Good works and the good news of the Gospel belong together.

The Gospel does more than change what we believe—it changes who we are, how we live, and what we live for.
