Welcome back to the Seven Maven Minutes brought to you by AppSumo. I'm Jamal the Maven, ready to drop some empowering insights for your personal and professional journey. Today, we've got three insightful thoughts, two safe sayings, a piece of daily bread, and a reflective question for your Maven mindset. Let's get rolling. Three quick Maven minutes. One, expertise through persistence and humility.

First up, an expert is someone who manages to stay confident enough to keep trying and humble enough to keep learning. Think about that. Being an expert isn't just about what you know. It's about continually growing and staying open to new ideas and challenges. It's about balancing confidence with the humility to keep learning. Two, living beyond expectations. Here's another thought. You have no responsibility to live up to someone else's expectations. It's crucial to live your life.

Not the life others expect of you. Forge your path based on your dreams, not the preferences of others. It's all about authenticity. Three, the power of slowing down. Here one powerful thing I have realized recently. Slowing down enables you to act in a high quality way.

In our fast paced world, slowing down helps you be more thoughtful and intentional in your actions. Remember, it's not always about speed. Sometimes the best results come from taking your time. Two saved saints. One.

May Sarton on letting go. Poet May Sarton teaches us, learn to lose in order to recover. Let it go. Like trees shedding leaves sometimes, letting go is necessary for new growth. It's about embracing change and finding strength in renewal.

    Jamaul (01:58.638)
Sarton's words remind us that sometimes to move forward, to truly grow, we need to let go. Think about trees in autumn. They let their leaves fall, not out of defeat, but to prepare for new life. Similarly, in our lives, there are things that we might need to release to make room for fresh beginnings. Trust in the process of life, just as the trees trust that after the winter spring will come, bringing new leaves, new life.

    2. Joan Didion on Living Fully.

Joan Didion says, living the world, take chances. She's urging us to fully engage with life, to seize opportunities and find joy in what we create. It's a call to action, to live boldly and vibrantly. Didion's urging us to find joy in what we create. Whether it's art, a business or just a simple home cooked meal, there's something magical about creating something from nothing. It's in these acts of creation that we

We often find our deepest joys in our true selves, daily bread, Matthew 6 .34 NIV. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow. For tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. It's easy to get caught up in the what ifs of tomorrow, isn't it? To spend so much time fretting about the future that we miss what's happening right now. But here's the thing, while it's important to plan and prepare, it's equally important to

important to live in the present. This verse reminds us that each day brings its own set of challenges and joys, and they deserve our full attention. Think of life like a book. If you're always skipping ahead to read the last page, you missed out on the story. Worrying about tomorrow can rob you of the experiences and lessons today has to offer. It's about finding a balanced plan for the future, but don't let it overshadow the present.

    Jamaul (04:01.328)
Maven Ma said, here is a great question ask yourself. What is one lesson you have learned or relearned this year? As we navigate life, the lessons we learn shape us. Reflecting on these lessons, especially those from the past year, is vital. It helps us understand our journey, recognize our growth, and prepare for future challenges. So think about the experiences that have taught you something valuable.

How have they changed you? How will they influence your path forward? And that's a wrap for today's seven Maven minutes. Thank you for joining me on this journey of discovery and growth. Until next week, keep reflecting, learning and growing. I'm Jamal the Maven, powered by AppZoom. Stay curious, stay inspired and remember, every day is an opportunity to become a better version of yourself.

Hey, welcome back to the 7 Maven Minutes powered by AppSumo. I'm Jamal the Maven, and each week we dive into insights and ideas that challenge you to grow and embrace life's challenges. Today, we've got three powerful points and a couple of sage sayings. So let's jump right in.

three quick maven minutes. One, cultivating sustainable lifestyles. Setting new goals is great, but it's new habits that bring real change. Focus on how you live each day, not just the prize at the end. It's like this, imagine you wanna climb a mountain. You don't just teleport to the tower, you've gotta hike it. That means...

Preparing, practicing, and changing how you do things daily. It's those everyday steps, the habits you build, that get you to the peak too. Happiness Formation. Your day -to -day choices shape your happiness. By making small shifts in your actions and mindset, you can transform your outlook on life. Think of happiness like a puzzle.

If you're always indoors, try getting some sun and fresh air. If you're sitting around a lot, start moving. Swap out overspending for saving, grumpiness for playfulness, problem focus for solution driven. Little tweaks make a big difference. Three, balancing focus and flexibility. Knowing when to zero in or zoom out is key. It's all about sensing the moment. Should you push harder or take a broader view?

Life's like being a DJ. Sometimes you gotta focus on one track. Other times, you need to see the whole mix. It's about reading the room, your room. Sometimes you need to buckle down. Other times, you need to step back and see the big picture. Two, Sage Sands. One.

    Jamaul (02:01.353)
Process over outcome. Confucius said, it does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. This is all about the journey, not just the finish line. Keep moving no matter the pace and you'll get where you need to be.

    2. Embracing Optimism Desmond Tutu once pointed out, hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. It's about finding that spark even on cloudy days. Optimism isn't ignoring the dark, it's knowing the sun's still there.

Three daily bread, Matthew 634 NIV. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Think about it, how much time do we spend worrying about what's coming up? Maybe it's a test next week, a big game, or even just wondering what we're going to do after graduation.

This verse isn't saying don't plan or be careless about the future. It's more like don't let tomorrow's worries steal today's peace. Each day has its own set of challenges, right? And that's enough to deal with without adding tomorrow's what ifs into the mix. Trust that when tomorrow comes, you'll be ready for it. Not because you worried about it in advance, but because you were fully engaged in the now, building strength and resilience for whatever comes next.

    for watching.

    Jamaul (03:29.293)
Maven mindset. What are you avoiding because you fear the answer might be uncomfortable or challenging? We all have those questions in our lives. The kind that we sweep under the rug because we're scared of what they might reveal. Maybe it's about changing careers, ending a relationship that isn't working, or finally starting that project you've been dreaming about. These questions are tough and they can make us super uncomfortable. Confronting these questions takes guts.

I won't lie. It means facing some hard truths and maybe making some big changes. But the growth that comes from this, that's priceless. I challenge you, don't run from those tough questions. Embrace them, wrestle with them, grow from them. It might be scary, but the person you become on the other side, more aware, more brave, more you, will thank you for it. That's it.

for this week's 7 Maven minutes. I hope these insights inspire you to make those small but crucial changes in your life. Until next week, pursue growth and embrace challenges. And remember, each day is a chance to be your best self. I'm Jamal the Maven and this was powered by AppSumo. Keep shining.

  • Episode 6: Gut Reactions

Now I suppose I shall have to use force.

    Jamaul (00:10.414)
Hello and welcome back to the 7 Maven Minute Shortcast. Every week I'm here to arm you with wisdom and insights for your everyday success. Whether it's your personal life or your professional growth, we've got some powerful thoughts to share.

    Jamaul (00:28.526)
Maven minutes. One, understanding gut reactions. Trust your gut, but know when to question it. It's a compass born from experience and understanding, not just an emotional impulse.

Ever had that feeling in your belly telling you something? That's your gut reaction. It's like an inner alarm system. But here's the catch. It's super useful when it's coming from what you've learned or deeply understand. However, when it's just about feelings or in stuff you're not familiar with, it's better to take a step back and think it through. That's a two. Mastering negotiation.

Negotiation is an art that plays on leverage. Build value, know your alternatives, and aim for long -term connections, not just winning the moment. Negotiation isn't just haggling prices. It's about understanding what you bring to the table and what you can walk away with. It's not about crushing the other person. It's about finding a win -win.

Keep in mind, relationships are often more valuable than one -time wins. Three, the power of habits. Great habits are like investment. The more consistent you are, the bigger payoff you get. It's about building a cycle of success. Think about habits like exercise or saving money. They might seem unnecessary at first, but over time, they build the exact strengths and resources you need. It's a loop. The more you do, the more you can do.

Two, couple of quotes. I, resilience in adversity. Nelson Mandela once said, the greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. It's not about never failing. It's about not giving up when you do. That's real strength. Two, embracing uncertainty.

    Jamaul (02:27.886)
Doris Lessing offers this gem. You can't predict the future or the consequences of your actions, but you can be prepared to face them. It's not always about being right, but about understanding the impact of being wrong.

Life's uncertain and that's okay. It's about being ready for the ups and downs, not just trying to avoid them. Three, daily bread, Jeremiah 29, 11, NIV. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse isn't just a mere collection of words. It's a powerful declaration of hope and promise. It speaks to each one of us, reassuring us that our lives are not

random or aimless. Instead, there is a divine plan meticulously crafted for our prosperity, safety, and hope. This verse is like a promise that there's a plan for you. A plan for good things, hope, and a future. Let this verse be a guiding light in times of darkness, a source of strength when you feel weak, and a reminder of the glorious future that awaits.

    4. Maven mindset. What's one thing you could stop doing right now that would make your life better? Think about it. Is there something you're doing that's holding you back? Maybe it's spending too much time on your phone or procrastinating. What can you cut out to move forward? Think about the extra time.

energy and peace of mind you'd have if you just stopped that one thing. Maybe you'd have more time for your hobbies, for hanging out with friends, for studying, or just for taking care of yourself. It's about reclaiming your time and your life from things that don't add value. That's it for today's 7 Maven Minutes Shortcast. I hope these thoughts and quotes inspire you to think deeper and act wiser. I'm Jamal the Maven encouraging you.

    Jamaul (04:32.622)
cultivate wisdom for your success. Until next time, keep growing, keep striving, and keep shining.
