This is The 1948 Troll incident of Røros, Norway by Sascha Schmidt, a mythical creature horror story for sleep set beneath a prison-labor mine in September 1948. When drilling breaches a German-mapped cavern, the bergbúi of Norwegian folklore emerges not as legend, but as a photophobic, mineral-organic organism embedded in the mountain itself.
In the recovered medical testimony, prisoners suffer shared nightmares, respiratory mineralization, and living stone growths as bacteria and contaminated water extend the troll through the mine. A doctor, a geologist, and a Salus Omnium operative quarantine the exposed men and seal the Stone Room with concrete. But when symptoms spread above the barrier and the grinding travels through the mountain, they realize the troll cannot be walled in—and the doctor must decide what her oath is worth when her patients have already become part of it.
