EP205: Hey Thrive Community! 💛
There’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: how are we helping our kids navigate a world that is constantly connected to a screen?
As parents, we have a huge opportunity to teach our children what healthy technology use looks like—not just by setting boundaries around screen time, but by modeling it ourselves.
Too much screen time and social media can impact a child’s emotional well-being, increase anxiety, fuel comparison, and make it harder for them to slow down, explore, make mistakes, and simply be kids.
And this isn’t about banning technology or making your home completely screen-free.
It’s about balance.
It’s about creating boundaries around devices while making space for outdoor play, creativity, connection, boredom, movement, and real-life experiences. 🌿
Most importantly, our kids are watching how we handle our own stress, emotions, phones, and mental health. We can tell them to put the phone down all day long—but when they see us constantly reaching for ours, they're learning from that, too.
So this weekend, I have a challenge for you:
GO EXPLORE. 🌳
Put the phones away for a little while. Go outside. Take a walk. Play in the backyard. Go to the beach. Sit in the sunshine. Let your kids get messy. Let them be bored. Let yourself breathe.
It doesn't have to be complicated.
Sometimes the nervous system needs exactly what technology can't give us: movement, nature, connection, and presence.
And remember—this isn't about being a perfect parent. It's about making small, intentional choices that support your family's mental health and emotional well-being.
