Are you a Christian experiencing doubt, deconstruction, or losing your faith? If so, this podcast is for you.

My name is Pedro R. García. I am a former atheist, now a follower of Jesus.

Have you ever wondered what really goes on in the mind of someone questioning everything? We start this journey by walking through my novel, "For Those Who Doubt: Is It Because of Jesus," analyzing the 'why' behind every character's decision. But that’s just the foundation.

From Episode 16 onward, we’re getting personal. We’re talking about the weight of doubt—how it affects your Sunday dinners, your oldest friendships, and your view of the world. We aren’t afraid to lean into the difficult questions of philosophy and theology. My mission is to help you (and those you love) navigate these waters, while clarifying one vital point: more often than not, the pain of the 'exit' has very little to do with Jesus himself.

The Science Shield: Is Faith Just a Blind Leap?

Podcast: Is It Because of Jesus? with Pedro Garcia

"I don't think faith is a reliable way to know what's true."

If someone you love is stepping away from the church because they simply cannot bring themselves to bypass their intellect, or if you are wondering how you can base your entire life on something you cannot prove in a laboratory, lean in.

In this episode, Pedro Garcia addresses the ultimate epistemological objection of the modern era: the claim that faith is essentially a blindfold. We have been handed a cultural narrative that science deals with cold, hard facts while religion deals with irrational, blind leaps. But what if that definition of faith is a modern, secular straw man?

    In this episode, we unpack:

    • The Logic of Empiricism: Why the statement "only empirical evidence is reliable" is a logical fallacy, and how the scientific method itself relies on massive amounts of unprovable faith.
    • The Illusion of Control: How demanding absolute scientific proof acts as a psychological fortress. If truth is something we can measure and dissect, we remain the master of our universe and avoid the terrifying vulnerability of surrender.
    • The Intellectual Wounds of the Church: Why using "just have faith" as a gag order to shut down curiosity is spiritual malpractice, and how it creates a deep archetypal wound for truth-seekers.
    • How Jesus Handled the Evidence: Looking at John the Baptist and Doubting Thomas to see how Jesus met skepticism with tangible proof, not shame. He never asks you to turn off your mind to find Him.

Faith in Jesus Christ is not a blind leap into the dark; it is an informed step into the light based on the historical, undeniable reality of an empty grave.

The Challenge: Ask yourself (or the skeptic in your life): If you investigated the claims of Christ and found that He actually provided enough evidence for your mind to trust Him, would you take the step? Or are you secretly hoping faith remains unreliable so you never have to give up control of your life?

  • I think most Christians would be atheists if they were born somewhere else

The Geography of Faith: Are You Only a Christian Because of Where You Were Born?

"I think most Christians would be atheists if they were born somewhere else."

It is an objection that haunts college dorm rooms and dinner table debates: the unsettling idea that your deepest convictions might just be an accident of geography. If faith is nothing more than a sociological byproduct, does that mean it isn't objectively true?

In this episode, Pedro Garcia tackles the critique that Christianity is just a localized cultural habit. We look past the surface-level sociology to uncover the fatal logical flaw hiding in plain sight, and we explore the subconscious defense mechanisms that drive us to reduce the divine to mere demographics.

    In this episode, we unpack:

    • The Genetic Fallacy: Why confusing the origin of a belief with the truth of a belief is logically incoherent, and why the skeptic's own atheism is actually subject to the exact same sociological accident.
    • The Fortress of Autonomy: How flattening faith into geography acts as a brilliant psychological shield. If religion is just an accident of birth, it demands absolutely nothing of us—protecting our ego from the terrifying vulnerability of surrendering to God.
    • Shattering the Geographical Box: Looking at Jesus's conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4 to see how He completely separates Himself from political tribalism and cultural gatekeeping.

You are right to want a truth that is bigger than your hometown. But do not let your distaste for cultural religion keep you from the God who transcends culture entirely.

The Challenge: Ask yourself (or the skeptic in your life): If you suddenly discovered that the God of the universe wasn't a cultural inheritance, but a personal Savior who has been quietly pursuing you across every border of your life, would you be willing to leave your fortress of skepticism to finally meet Him?

  • Faith always seems to start where evidence stops.

Does Faith Start Where Evidence Stops?

"Faith always seems to start where evidence stops."

If you or someone you love is losing faith because it feels like intellect, science, and modern observations leave no room for the supernatural, lean in.

In this episode, Pedro Garcia wrestles with a sentiment that defines our modern secular age: the idea that faith is nothing more than a psychological gap-filler for the things we haven't yet explained. But what if the premise is flawed from the ground up? What if the evidence isn't stopping, but we are simply looking at it through a lens that blinds us to the architecture of meaning?

    In this episode, we unpack:

    • The Category Error: Why science (how things happen) and theology (why things exist) are not mortal enemies, and why trying to put the Creator of the universe into a test tube is fundamentally missing the point.
    • The Psychological Shield: How the strict demand for cold, hard data is often a defense mechanism used by the ego to maintain autonomy and keep the transcendent at a safe distance.
    • The Original Skeptic: How Jesus responded to "Doubting Thomas" when he demanded physical proof. Jesus didn't hand him a textbook or scold his logic—He offered His scars and invited him into an encounter.

We are terrified of the unknown because the transcendent makes a claim on us. If the universe is just a machine, we are just cogs with no ultimate responsibility. But if there is a Creator, our lives are not our own.

The Challenge: Ask yourself (or the skeptic in your life) a hard question: If you were to find out that every single piece of evidence you have gathered to keep God out was actually a sign pointing to your own need for Him, would you be willing to be wrong just so you could finally be known?
