概要
Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️
After a long break, I am finally back to reading my comfort genre: mafia romance.
🚨 Schedule Reminder: Catch new episodes every Sunday at 10:30 AM!.
In this episode, we discuss:
The Setup: We are looking at "The Pakhan's Secretary" by Ariana Cooper. It features the classic secretary/boss trope with Roman Sokolov and Eva Markova. Eva is in massive debt, leading to a forced marriage scenario to pay for her family's medical and tuition bills.
The Good: Roman actually respects Eva's feelings, and Eva isn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up to him.
The Critique: This story suffers from severe repetition. The author constantly reuses the same phrases, and Roman is so distracted by Eva that he acts like an idiot instead of a competent mafia boss dealing with his enemies. Plus, why is Natasha always crying?.
The Verdict: The execution fell flat for me, earning this a 3 out of 5 stars.
Mentioned in this episode:
Book: The Pakhan's Secretary by Ariana Cooper
Tropes: Boss x Secretary, Mafia Romance, Marriage of Convenience
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
I need your help! 🆘Please recommend some better mafia romance novels for me to read next week.
