According to Arab folklore and Quranic legend, Iram was a magnificent city known for its towering palaces and grandeur, built by the Ad tribe. The city's inhabitants, it is said, were arrogant and defied divine warnings, leading to their eventual downfall. As a punishment, Iram was obliterated by a cataclysmic event buried beneath the unforgiving sands of the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). While Iram's existence has long been considered a legend, tantalizing hints have emerged over the years that suggest a kernel of truth. In the early 20th century, British archaeologist Bertram Thomas came across a series of inscriptions and rock carvings in southern Arabia, potentially indicating the presence of an ancient city buried beneath the dunes. More recently, satellite imaging technology has revealed intriguing anomalies beneath the desert's surface—patterns that could be remnants of a long-lost civilization.
