In our inaugural episode, we take a close look at the history of Bangkok’s Victory Monument and its surrounding neighborhood.

Together with our guest, Dr. Saowapark Khanman, we investigate the area’s role as a transit hub and explore how urban livelihoods change in parallel with the built landscape of the city. We also examine how the symbolic meaning of Victory Monument has been continuously reinscribed over time, and some of the ways people continuously repurpose its surrounding spaces for social life.
