Welcome everyone, thanks for tuning in.
While making this podcast I was told I needed to find and target my niche audience or who is it that I want/expect to listen to this. I of course gave the apparently generic answer of "any and everyone" which for me is still very true. I want everyone to listen to this show because that's the range of people I want feedback on about this project and the ideas I share here. However, that may not be the most compatible expectation with the way marketing algorithms and people's attention spans, and just general interest work. So with that, I have been trying to think about "who would my audience members be, and who would I want them to be?"
I started out with "I want people like me to listen" and the next step was okay "who are you and what would characterize "someone like me"? The following are the results of my thought dump on my answers to those questions. As/if you read through, do comment on which aspects you relate to as I hope to know more about what aspects my audience already relates to and what aspects I can expand upon.
According to my tinder bio, I am "an intellectual himbo", who is both the life of the party but also heavily introverted when needed. I am a Nigerian born in Chicago, raised in Nigeria until I was 16 and then back in Chicago until now. I am a college graduate with plans for higher education in clinical psychology, and I am incredibly obsessed with cars. I love food, music, seggs, and did I mention I love cars? I have horrible ADHD which is still undiagnosed because I am both poor and unfamiliar with the American health care system and my current health care coverage to access mental health services if I do have access to them. Currently I am a Research Assistant doing work with people with traumatic spinal cord injuries and I love to contemplate big questions and ideas. I find it interesting thinking about the philosophy of different things and finding out why things are the way they are and why they happen the way that they are.
Essentially I am a 25 year old child that just never stopped wondering and asking why, which can be fun but also like any child asking why for too long, can be quite annoying to people. This podcast is my platform to share some of the thoughts and ideas I discuss with myself, and I want to get other people involved in that conversation. And that's it really. I hope you enjoy the show.
