We often say that birth is natural. Yet few experiences are as medicalized, regulated, and system-dependent as giving birth. Somewhere between efficiency and empathy, we’ve lost sight of what care truly means. In this episode, Veronika Posch speaks with Marlene Schaefer, a practicing midwife whose work bridges the intimate world of birth and the often impersonal machinery of the healthcare system.
