  • The Most Surprising MacBook Apple Has Released
    2026/03/12

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Apple Head Podcast, the show where we talk about everything happening in the world of Apple products.

If you enjoy learning about new Apple devices, how they work, and whether they’re actually worth your money, you’re in the right place.

Today’s episode is about something pretty surprising from Apple — a brand new laptop called the MacBook Neo.

And what makes this device interesting is that it’s officially the most affordable MacBook Apple has ever released.

Starting at around 16.5 million Vietnamese dong, the MacBook Neo is clearly designed for students, casual users, and people who want to enter the macOS ecosystem without spending a fortune.

One of the biggest headlines here is the processor. For the first time ever, Apple is putting an iPhone chip inside a Mac. The MacBook Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same family of processors used in high-end iPhones.

It features a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. According to Apple, this chip delivers AI processing up to three times faster and smoother everyday performance compared to many laptops in the same price range.

Because the A-series chip is so power efficient, the MacBook Neo doesn’t even need a cooling fan. That means the laptop runs completely silent while still delivering up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge. For students working all day at school or coffee shops, that’s a pretty big advantage.

Now let’s talk about the design. The MacBook Neo keeps Apple’s classic aluminum unibody build, but it’s incredibly light at just 1.2 kilograms. Apple is clearly targeting younger users here, offering four colors including soft pink, indigo blue, silver, and citrus gold. Even the Magic Keyboard matches the color of the device.

The display is also interesting. You get a 13-inch Liquid Retina screen with 500 nits of brightness and support for one billion colors. And unlike many modern MacBooks, Apple actually removed the notch, giving this laptop a clean, uninterrupted screen design.

In terms of ports, the MacBook Neo keeps things simple. You get two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. Apple removed MagSafe charging to keep the price lower, but the laptop still supports modern connectivity like Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.

So the big question is whether you should buy the MacBook Neo or step up to something more powerful like the MacBook Air M5. If you’re a student, someone who mainly browses the web, writes documents, or uses everyday apps, the MacBook Neo could be a fantastic entry point into macOS.

But if you do heavier work like video editing, coding, or serious multitasking, the MacBook Air M5 with its stronger chip and more RAM might still be the better investment.

Overall, the MacBook Neo feels like a big strategic move from Apple. It lowers the barrier to the Mac ecosystem while still delivering solid performance, great battery life, and the premium design Apple is known for.

And honestly, if this laptop performs as well as Apple claims, it could become one of the most popular MacBooks for students and everyday users.
