Cori sits down with one of her best friends of more than 30 years, Lauren, to talk about having three very young kids — and being honest about how fucking hard it has been.
Lauren talks openly about her complicated feelings around finding out she was unexpectedly pregant with a third child, her difficult third pregnancy and delivery, postpartum anxiety, raising three kids under five, working, marriage, friendships, and the day-to-day chaos of having three little people who need her at the same time.
There's also a lot of love in the chaos. Lauren talks about dancing in the kitchen in pajamas, watching her daughters interact with their baby brother, crying happy tears over the three children she once didn't know she'd be able to have — and then yelling at them two minutes later.
Cori and Lauren also talk about the kind of friendships that survive different seasons of life, letting go of the pressure to do everything, and finding small pieces of yourself when motherhood is taking up a whole lot of the available space.
Lauren loves her son. She wouldn't change having him. She is grateful for her three kids. Her life would also be easier with two.
All of those things get to be true at the same time.
