Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is admit that you do not have all the answers.

In EP 3825 of The Strong Life Project, Shaun O'Gorman explores why getting advice can be one of the most powerful decisions you make in your personal life, relationships, career and leadership. Too many people believe asking for help is a sign of weakness. In reality, refusing to seek advice can be a sign of ego, insecurity or a lack of self awareness.

Strong people understand the difference between dependence and seeking perspective. You do not need someone else to make your decisions for you. You need people who can challenge your thinking, identify the blind spots you cannot see and give you perspective when emotions are influencing your judgement.

This is particularly important when you are dealing with stress, difficult relationships, leadership challenges or major decisions. When you are too close to a problem, your ability to see it objectively can become compromised. The right advice can help you step back, assess the situation and make a better decision.

But there is an important distinction. Not all advice is good advice. You need to be selective about who you listen to. Seek guidance from people who have demonstrated experience, character and wisdom in the area where you need help. Do not ask everyone for their opinion simply because they are willing to give it.

Personal growth requires humility. Leadership requires self awareness. Resilience requires knowing when to stand on your own and when to reach out for support.

Maybe the question is not whether you should get some advice. Maybe the real question is whether your ego is stopping you from getting the advice you need.

Listen to EP 3825 and consider where seeking the right perspective could help you make a stronger decision.
