This week, we are standing on the powerful declaration of Psalm 116:7 (KJV): “Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.” What does it mean to return to your rest? In this prophetic teaching, Chimdi Ohahuna takes us into the Hebrew meanings behind the words return, rest, soul, and dealt bountifully, revealing a profound message: God is bringing His people back into a place of rest because He is dealing bountifully with them. The Hebrew word shub means to return or turn back, while manuach speaks of a resting place, settled condition, repose, or home. The word nephesh, translated “soul,” encompasses the whole person—our life, mind, emotions, desires, passions, and inner being. In other words, God is not merely promising external relief. He is calling our whole being back to rest. And why can we return to rest? Because the Lord has dealt bountifully with us. This episode also explores the preceding verse, where the Psalmist declares that the Lord preserves the simple and helps those who have been brought low. For everyone who has walked through difficult circumstances with sincerity and an open heart, this episode carries a timely prophetic encouragement: The Lord will vindicate you. If you have been waiting for God to speak on your behalf, settle a matter, repay what was lost, or bring justice and resolution to an issue that has troubled your soul, this prayer is for you. This week, we declare: The Lord will vindicate us. The Lord will deal bountifully with us. Our souls will return to rest. Our lives will return to rest. Our emotions will return to rest. Our whole beings will return to the resting place of God. Whatever has been troubling you, may the Lord vindicate you concerning that matter.
