Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's early September, and if you're anything like me, your to-do list probably just got a whole lot longer. Maybe you're staring at your screen right now wondering where the focus even went, or perhaps you're feeling that familiar pull between a dozen different priorities. Well, you're in exactly the right place. Today, we're going to practice what I call "intention anchoring," and I promise it's going to feel less like productivity theater and more like actually coming home to yourself. So let's start by just settling in wherever you are. If you can, sit somewhere that feels comfortable but alert, like you're ready for a conversation with a friend. Feet on the ground if possible. And let's take a breath together. Inhale through your nose for a count of four, and exhale through your mouth like you're gently fogging a mirror. One more time. Four counts in, and release. Good. Now I want you to think about your mind right now as if it's a snow globe that someone just shook. All those thoughts, all that urgency, all that noise—it's all swirling around. And our job isn't to stop the snow from falling. That's impossible. Our job is just to let it settle. So for the next few minutes, I want you to imagine that each exhale is giving permission for one flake to come to rest. Here's the technique: as you breathe, silently say to yourself on the inhale, "I notice," and on the exhale, "I choose." Notice what's demanding your attention right now without judgment. Maybe it's an email, maybe it's a conversation, maybe it's a creative idea that won't stop knocking. You notice it. You acknowledge it. Then you exhale and you choose. You choose which thing actually deserves your focus in this moment. Not all day. Just this moment. Keep breathing like this for a few minutes. In: I notice. Out: I choose. Feel how different it is to choose rather than to react? That's your superpower right there. As we close, I want you to carry this into your day. Before you dive into your work, take thirty seconds and anchor your intention. Notice what's clamoring for your attention, then consciously choose your first task. It's such a small thing, but it transforms everything. Thank you so much for spending these moments with me on Productivity and Focus. If this landed for you, please subscribe so you don't miss our next practice. You've got this. For great deals today, check out https://amzn.to/47ZqpWT
