Hello, and welcome. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here. You know, if you're listening right now on this Sunday morning in August, there's a good chance you've got that familiar weight on your shoulders—that Sunday scoop of anxiety about the week ahead, mixed with the pressure to feel perfectly rested by tomorrow. So today, we're going to do something really simple but profound. We're going to practice what I call the art of true relaxation, not the kind where you're checking your phone, but the kind where your nervous system actually gets the memo that it's safe to let go. Let's start by finding a comfortable seat, somewhere you won't be interrupted for the next few minutes. You might be on your couch, your bed, or even sitting in your car. Wherever you are is exactly right. Close your eyes gently, and take a moment to notice what's touching you right now. Feel the support beneath you. The cushion, the chair, the earth holding you up. You don't have to do anything special here. Just acknowledge that you're being held. Now, let's bring our attention to your breath, but not in that effortful way where you're trying to breathe perfectly. Just notice what's already happening. Your breath is like a gentle tide coming in and going out. You're not directing it. You're just watching it. On your next exhale, I want you to try something different. As you breathe out, imagine you're releasing a color. Maybe it's gray or heavy, something that represents the tension you've been carrying. Don't force it. Just let it drift away on your exhale like smoke in a breeze. Continue this for a few more breaths. In, and then out, releasing that color, that weight, that worry. With each exhale, your body gets permission to be a little bit heavier, a little bit more grounded. Your shoulders might drop. Your jaw might soften. This is what real relaxation feels like. It's not about doing more. It's about allowing less. As we close, bring your awareness back to your body, back to the room around you. You can open your eyes whenever you feel ready. Here's what I want you to carry into your week: whenever you feel tension creeping in, remember that color, that exhale. You don't need twenty minutes. Even two conscious breaths can reset your nervous system. Thank you so much for joining me on this practice of Relaxation. I hope it felt like a little pause in your week.
