Monday, May 18th: In Episode 771 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 11, “The Soul Who Sins Shall Die,” from Ezekiel 18. Ezekiel confronts the popular belief that people were only suffering because of the sins of previous generations. God rejects the idea that anyone is merely trapped by family history or doomed by the failures of their ancestors. Through several examples of righteous and wicked generations, Ezekiel emphasizes personal responsibility and the reality that every individual must respond to God for themselves. The chapter carries both warning and hope: no one can rely on someone else’s faithfulness, but no one is beyond repentance and transformation either. God repeatedly calls people to turn from sin and live, revealing that His desire is restoration, not destruction. One of the most powerful moments comes when God says, “I take no pleasure in the death of anyone… so turn and live.” Ezekiel 18 ultimately points toward the gospel by highlighting humanity’s need for transformed hearts and new life.
