概要

 It's November of 1998, just past two in the morning, and Luna is working the graveyard shift as a night porter at Mercy General Hospital in Larkspur, Vermont—a small town where the biggest news is usually the high school football scores. Tonight, the ER is quiet, the corridors are empty, and the only sound is the hum of the fluorescent lights. But then the elevator on the third floor opens with a chime, and no one steps out. When Luna goes to check, she finds a single piece of paper on the floor, folded into a square. It's a discharge summary for a patient named Evelyn Croft, dated 1972. The chart says she was released in good health. But the handwriting at the bottom—in red ink—says something else. Something that makes Luna start checking the old storage room in the basement. This is a story about a hospital that keeps its records, and its secrets, a little too long. It's about a name that keeps appearing on the logbook, night after night, and a woman in a blue dress who never seems to leave.
