概要

 In the dead of a humid August night in 1987, Luna works the graveyard shift at the Dusty Mile Diner on the outskirts of Yarrow, Nebraska. A stranger in a black suit sits in booth four, his hands perfectly still on the table. He orders the blue plate special—gravy, mashed potatoes, meatloaf—but doesn't eat. He just stares at the plate as the gravy cools and congeals. When Luna tries to clear it, he speaks. What he tells her about the town's missing children, about the road that bends where it shouldn't, and about the thing that waits in the corn, is not a story meant for telling. But Luna heard it. And now she can't unhear the sound of the diner's bell, or the way the streetlight flickers when the wind dies. This is the story of what happens when you listen too closely, and what follows you home from the night shift.
