概要

The key to Room 11 is warm in Luna's hand. The motel's vacancy light buzzes outside. She's never been to that room before, but something about the number feels familiar—like a memory she can't quite touch. The static on the office TV shifts into a low hum as she steps out from behind the counter, key pressed into her palm. The parking lot is empty, but a single set of footprints leads from the office door to Room 11, then stops. No footprints going back. The air smells like dust and something metallic. She calls out, but the silence answers. The door to Room 11 is ajar. Inside, a lamp is on, casting a weak orange glow. On the bed is a photograph—of a woman who looks like her, but older. Worn. Tired. Standing in front of this same motel, but the sign reads 'NO VACANCY.' The date on the back is ten years from now. Luna stops breathing. The photograph is still warm.
