概要

 In January of 2003, a woman named Coral drove six hours from a small town in New Mexico to Luna's pawnshop in Arizona, hauling a garment bag in the bed of her pickup. The dress inside—a vintage 1950s wedding gown—had been a gift from her fiancé, who vanished without explanation two days before their wedding. Coral wanted it out of her house, out of her life. Luna took it in, logged it in the ledger, and hung it on the rack behind the counter. But the dress didn't stay quiet. It smelled of mothballs and something else—something sweet and medicinal. And at night, after the shop was locked, Luna would catch the faint sound of fabric rustling, as if someone was turning in their sleep. The story that follows is what Luna learned about the dress from Coral, from the groom's mother, and from a phone call she made one sleepless night to a number scrawled inside the hem.
