概要

Luna kneels in the chapel and tells the story of a night on a dead-end road outside New Damascus, Texas. She drove out in late October, the year the pecan trees dropped their fruit too early. She was following a name she found written in a hymnal — a girl called Abby Cantrell who disappeared from that stretch of highway in 1987. The road is a loop now, the kind that folds back on itself if you don't know the trick. She met a man in a pickup who told her about the lights, the ones that drift over the asphalt like lanterns. She saw them too. And she heard something — a voice, or the shape of a voice, half-sung in the dark. She tells no ghost story. She tells a story about a road that remembers, and the people who get left behind inside it.
