    Did the Buddha believe in God? It depends on what you mean by “God.” The parable of the blind men and the elephant makes the point: one feels the trunk and says it’s a snake, another the leg and says it’s a tree—each naming part of one reality. The same applies to God. If “God” means a personal ruler on a throne, the Buddha said no. But if it means the unborn, unconditioned Ground of Being, then yes.
