概要

In this episode of the StableMinded Podcast, we continue to explore what it looks like to give ourselves “permission to change.”

By looking intentionally at our spiritual, emotional, and relational health through a framework drawn from Erikson's developmental model side-by-side with the stages of spiritual maturity, we can gain insight into how our developmental wounds and attachment patterns shape the way we relate to God and others.

These patterns and coping strategies often rise to the surface when we face “the wall,” also known as the dark soul of the night, which usually occurs during or after a season of suffering.

This is when faith is truly tested.

And that is often when we get stuck.

The way forward requires intentional pursuit, and that pursuit can create friction in relationships, routines, and expectations. But with the right support in place, and strategies that strive to preserve healthy relationships while deepening faith and resiliency, it is possible to experience God's transforming work in your heart, soul, mind, and body.

Key takeaways

  • Transformation requires intention and often brings relational tension.
  • Spiritual maturity is a process, and many people get stuck in suffering seasons.
  • Developmental wounds can shape faith, relationships, and resilience.
  • Healing is holistic and may require mentorship, spiritual direction, and therapy.
  • Colossians 3 frames change as continual surrender: put off the old, put on the new, and choose love.
