In 2022, we’ve seen extremely high rates of layoffs across industries, but specifically in the world of tech and startups. 

In November 2022, Meta just announced a 13% reduction in force totalling over 11,000 employees globally.  As of mid-november 2022, there have been different numbers of layoffs totalled, but estimates are around upwards of 70,000 individuals in the tech industry being laid off. 

Some of the more notable companies conducting layoffs have been: Twitter, Meta, Lyft, Zillow, Beyond Meat, Noom, Peloton, and Brex. 

In today’s episode, Maryam talks through why we’re seeing so many mass layoffs, along with the toll the layoffs have taken on both the company and the employees impacted. Some companies have conducted layoffs thoughtfully, while others could and should have done better with their reductions.
