  • Ryan Marshall: Fire, Watrer, Shelter
    2026/04/30

In this episode, I sit down with Ryan Marshall, former host of Marshall Bushcraft on Canada's Wild Tv, to talk about the experience that changed the course of his life. In his early 20's Ryan set out on a winter climbing trip, only to find himself caught in a blizzard, soaked, exposed, and facing conditions he wasn't ready for. What followed was a series of decisions that pushed him to his limits and forced him to confront the reality of survival in it's rawest form.

Ryan walks us through that near-death experience, what was going through his mind in the moment, and how ultimately led him to dedicate his life to learning and teaching bushcraft. We also dive into his new book, "Fire, Water, Shelter" and the deeper message behind it --why survival is about more than just skills.

If you've ever wondered how you'd handle a real survival situation or what it actually takes, this is a conversation you don't want to miss.

  • The Amazon Adventures
    2026/04/15

In the 1980's, a simple magazine article would change everything for a Wisconsin angler named Joe Wing. After reading about Peacock bass fishing in the Amazon he picked up the phone and called the man behind the story- and a few months later, he was headed deep into South America. What followed were years of raw, unfiltered adventure across remote rivers in places like Venezuela, Brazil and Peru- long before GPS, Cell Phones, or modern travel infrastructure existed.

This episode dives into a time when exploring the Amazon meant real risk. From close calls in the jungle to navigating unfamiliar cultures and unseen dangers, Joe's story is a reminder that the greatest adventures often come with the highest stakes. We also take a closer look at how travel has changed since then, and what the U.S. Department of State says about traveling abroad today, including why preparation, awareness, and trusting your instincts matter more than ever. This isn't just a fishing story, it's a story about adventure, risk, and answering a call that most people would ignore.

  • Hope Hung in the Tree
    2026/04/01

Bob Kampstra is back on the show, and at 87 years old, he's proof that adventure doesn't retire. In this episode, Bob takes us into the woods and into a situation where his experience, quick thinking, and even his faith are put to the ultimate test. We discuss the crucial lessons he learned - why wearing a safety harness is non-negotiable and why someone should always know where you are. We also dive into the medical realities of extreme situations, exploring what happens to the human body when circulations is compromised and why slow, careful rescue is essential. Plus, whether you're a believer or not, you'll hear how hope and prayer played a role when it mattered most for Bob.

Bob's story is thrilling, sobering and inspiring- a reminder that life can throw you the unexpected at any age.
