David Russell Shamszad is an author, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate whose memoir, I Am Someone You Know, chronicles his descent into untreated bipolar disorder and alcoholism and his long road back.

In his early twenties, mood swings, addiction, psychiatric hospitalizations, and incarceration unraveled what once looked like a promising life, culminating in profound loss and near surrender.
