I’m navigating my relationship with my challenging mother as an adult. It’s Fine.
Tune in today for a brand new episode of ‘It’s Fine Everyday with Maryam Taheri’. On today's episode, join Maryam and Dr. Stephanie Carinia as they talk about adult children and their quest to navigate complex relationships with their moms.
Dr. Carinia is a clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma and personality disorders. On today’s episode she talks about immature versus mature mothers and how the behaviors we experience during our formative years impact every aspect of our adult lives.
We all want to have a no strings attached type of relationship with our moms. We all want to be close to our moms, but it’s not always that simple. It’s hard to figure out and navigate how to have a loving and healthy relationship with our mothers. Most of us just want a loving and autonomous relationship. The problem is that immature mothers struggle with their capacity for unconditional love. Instead, the love you experience from your mom may be conditional.
Key Takeaways from Today’s Episode of It’s Fine Everyday:
- The difference between mature and immature mothers
- Abandonment vs Ego Wounds
- Enmeshment and Codependency
