The Hyksos Empire is a foreign dynasty that ruled northern Egypt during the Second Intermediate Period from approximately 1650 to 1550 BC. Coming from Asia, the Hyksos established their capital at Avaris in the Nile Delta region and became Egypt’s fifteenth dynasty. Contrary to the popular belief of Hyksos invading Egypt, the Hyksos presence was progressive, as the Asians slowly integrated into northern Egypt before conquering it.
