If you call yourself an overthinker, you have probably been trying to fix the wrong thing.

I spent years paralysed by my own thinking. I remember sitting in tears over which university course to choose, unable to decide, terrified of getting it wrong. Years later, when my wife's car died suddenly and we were down to my old Land Rover, I overthought the replacement so hard that I made a rash decision and got it badly wrong. Then my mind used that as evidence for why I needed to think even harder next time.

In this episode, I share what I have come to see after years of working with clients who ask me the same question: how do I stop this? They think it is a thinking problem. It isn't. It is a trust problem. A lack of trust in ourselves, in other people, in life itself. When we do not trust that we will be okay, it becomes our job to make sure we are, and that creates a very busy mind running every permutation of what might go wrong.

I explore why nothing can predict the future, why your wisdom shows up when you need it rather than in advance, and why the question worth sitting with is this one: what would you do next if you trusted you could handle whatever happened?

If your mind won't stop turning things over, this episode offers a completely different way in.
