By the time you get into bed, you've already spent 14 hours being the person who remembers, coordinates, anticipates, manages, and sustains everything and everyone in your household. That mental load is exhausting, and exhaustion is the least fertile ground for desire that exists. The question isn't why you don't want sex. It's how you could possibly have anything left for it.

In this episode, I'm naming what emotional labour actually is, showing you how it depletes desire at the root, and explaining what needs to change, for you and for your partner, to create conditions where desire can exist again.

❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: What is emotional labour and how does it affect my sex drive?
A: Emotional labour is the invisible work of managing your household's emotional and logistical life. Remembering, anticipating, and monitoring everyone's needs. It consumes the same mental and physical energy desire requires, so when it's not shared, desire has nothing left to draw on.

Q: Why do I feel too depleted for intimacy even when I love my partner?
A: Desire requires ease, presence, and the capacity to receive. If you've spent all day in giving mode, managing everyone else's emotional world, you arrive at night with nothing left to give. That's depletion, not disinterest.

Q: How can my partner actually help with this?
A: Not by "helping" but by taking full ownership of tasks. Helping still makes her the manager who delegates and checks in. Owning means noticing, tracking, and executing without being asked or reminded.
