  • Laura Doman: The one with the Snapping Elastic!
    2025/06/12

In ep 125 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, American voice actor Laura Doman joins Sam and Mark from Atlanta to talk about lingerie, the loss of a family pet and how bringing warm and fuzzy sometimes isn't easy because the script wording is hard and corporate. We have fun with Vikings, Egyptologists and witness a caterpillar (or could it be a worm) breaking out of her chrysalis.

Our VO question this week is all about the skills you use in acting that can make a client's life so much easier.

    Script 1

While most fashion brands outsource photoshoots to agencies and hire studios by the hour, we do things very differently at Frill Seeker. Apart from manufacturing, everything happens right here at our HQ in the heart of Oxford, UK—from designing and sampling to picking and packing your orders. And tucked away at the top of our three-story building is a little creative sanctuary: our in-house photographic studio.

Having our own studio means we’re able to punch well above our weight when it comes to imagery. It gives us the freedom to shoot whenever inspiration strikes, without worrying about rental fees, scheduling, or hauling wardrobes across town.

    Script 2

One of the most common questions we hear is:

How do I know I’m getting MY pet back?

This concern is completely valid, as the cremation process can feel mysterious to pet parents.

Our answer reflects the foundation of our culture.

    One pet at a time.

This commitment is supported by our proprietary software, Pet Tracker, and the honesty, integrity and trust demonstrated daily by our team members.

Pet Tracker incorporates location barcodes throughout our care center to track your pet every step of the way.

    About our guest:

Laura Doman is a Corporate turned Creative, a recovered cubicle dweller who found her true calling later in life as a voice and on-camera actor, living her childhood dreams in film, TV, commercials, and industrials and behind the mic voicing commercials, characters, and all things corporate. She’s also the Shameless Hussy of On Camera Confidence, coaching business owners how to show up boldly, authentically, and impactfully in videos, Zoom calls, and online appearances. Laura’s voiceover clients include AAA, Equifax, Tyler Perry Studios, and strangely enough, lots of insurance companies.

  • Lisa Shingler: The one with the Rubber Outfit!
    2025/06/05

In ep 124 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Lisa Shingler joins Sam and Mark to talk about the difference between an in-vision presenter script and a documentary voiceover script. How to mix gravitas with real emotion... How words like Smooth and Duvet roll off the tongue... and how a crisis of confidence can affect your read just when you don't expect it!

There's a Coronation Street story that'll make you wince, and we talk about the power of being in the moment, rather than worrying what the outcome might be!

Our VO question this week is all about how to gain confidence by setting goals, but breaking them down into highly achievable chunks.

    Script 1

Across Britain, farms like these are vanishing.

Not because the work has changed—but because the world around them has.

In the past decade, nearly a third of small farms in Britain have closed their gates for good. Some sold to developers. Others swallowed by agribusiness. Others just… gave up

They’re being squeezed—by global markets, by changing weather, by policies written in offices far from these hedgerows. And by a culture that’s stopped noticing the hands that feed it.

    Script 2

Imagine a world where mobile data capture is as smooth as a Sunday drive.

That’s the power of the all new Midi-Map X2-25

It’s not just a better system, it’s a lightweight, easy to own mobile mapping solution that’s completely changing the game.

Installs in minutes and easily goes anywhere the road can take you.

If you’re ready to take control of your data, slash work time and leave hassles in the dust, the Midi-Map-X2 25 is right on time and ready to roll.

Let’s take productivity on the road.

    Script 1

This is a mystery about life and love.

About truth, and finding the one true thing you’re willing to defend.

It’s about friendship, and how it ebbs and flows.

It’s about integrity and class and sex and society…

And above all, it’s about the age-old question:

Is it possible for a woman to have it all?

This is a mystery about life and love – and your verdict on the case will swing my judgment of you.

    Script 2

Who can fathom the vast expanse of our undiscovered universe?

You have been chosen by your faction to lead an interstellar expedition.

Ready your ship, gather your crew and dare to venture into the unknown by reaching… Deep Deep Space….

In this game of discovery, you must chart your own path to victory.

Assert your dominance through completing quests, uncovering rare items, and engaging in galactic battle.

What drives you into the unknown?

Is it the path of reputation?

    The path of exploration?

Or is it the path of amassing great wealth?

‘the doctor’s cut your script in half.

She thinks you are misusing them,

Just tell the doctor, will you please,
