概要

At the House Call Vet Café, we make it our mission to give our community of house call veterinarians a platform to share their stories, lift each other up, support each other, and share actionable tips, whether they are a super experienced house call vet with 30 years of experience, a brand new prospective house call vet just looking to get started… or are simply house call curious! We highlight house call veterinarians in our community who are doing unique and innovative things. You can also look forward to hearing valuable information and perspectives on mobile practice from specialists & experts outside of the mobile veterinary microniche. To help other veterinarians pursue their paths as mobile vets, I started The House Call Vet Academy. This is a continuing education program designed to provide detailed results-driven support for veterinarians practicing on a mobile basis. Here in this podcast, we will also be discussing content related to my unique approach to vet success & freedom from inside The House Call Vet Academy online course. • Ep 89: Relief Vet to Concierge Practice: Remembering Our Worth; Meet Dr. Fumiko Miyamoto
    2026/03/18

Dr. Fumiko Miyamoto is the founder of Scoobie's Veterinary Concierge Service, a membership-based house-call veterinary practice serving South Florida. Originally from Japan, she moved to the United States at age 15 to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Her path into veterinary medicine was anything but traditional. Before earning her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, she spent over a decade working as a Registered Veterinary Technician in emergency medicine. In 2018, she started her own veterinary relief practice supporting clinics across South Florida, and that experience eventually led her to launch Scoobie's Veterinary Concierge Service in August 2025—bringing personalized veterinary care directly into pets' homes.

She shares her home with her three dachshunds—Mabel, Charlie, and Ava—and enjoys spending time going to Pilatie's class, quilting, and traveling.

    Topics covered in this episode:

    • Dr. Fumiko's journey from relief work to concierge house call practice
    • Burnout, perfectionism, and creating a sustainable career in vet medicine
    • Boundaries, self-worth, and charging appropriately as a business owner
    • Wellness, self-care, and mindset in entrepreneurship
    • Why concierge practice can offer more flexibility and long-term sustainability
