Today’s reading takes us to Hosea 7, where God exposes Israel’s true condition beneath their hollow repentance. Their greatest threat was not Assyria outside the walls, but unrepentant sin inside their hearts. The corruption began at the top, with leaders marked by violence, drunkenness, conspiracy, and murder—and no one was seeking the Lord.
Hosea 7 reminds us how dangerous spiritual decay can be when we no longer notice it. Israel was like an unturned cake, gray-haired without knowing it, a silly dove chasing every refuge but God, and a warped bow unable to fulfill its purpose. So today, read Hosea 7 and ask the Lord to make you aware of every compromise: stay in His Word, return to Him fully, and refuse to become comfortable while drifting away.
