Today’s reading takes us to Hosea 10, where Israel uses God’s prosperity to finance their idolatry. God planted the vine, watered it, and blessed it—but instead of giving the harvest back to Him, Israel used His gifts to build altars for false gods. Prosperity that does not become worship eventually becomes an idol.
Hosea 10 reminds us that false gods always fail. Israel trusted kings, armies, golden calves, and fortified cities, but every lesser god was eventually carried away, exposed, or destroyed. So today, read Hosea 10 and ask the Lord to break up the fallow ground of your heart: do not waste His blessings, do not worship what can be carried away, and sow righteousness while there is still time.
