Force can get results fast, but what does it do to your soul while it’s working? We open Proverbs 11:16–17 and follow its sharp contrast: the gracious person attains honor, the ruthless person can attain riches, and those two outcomes are not interchangeable. We dig into what “violent” really means in the original language, why aggressive ambition often pays in the short term, and why Scripture still calls it a bad bargain when it leaves you without trust, love, or peace.

From there, we move from the outside to the inside. Proverbs 11:17 says mercy does you good while cruelty harms you, and we talk about why mercy is not passive weakness but active, costly strength. I share a personal story about being wronged in business and choosing forgiveness anyway, not because it felt pleasant, but because I wanted to stand before God with a clean conscience and protect the kind of peace money cannot buy.

Then the conversation turns toward parenting and legacy. A moment with one of my daughters flipped my assumptions about “toughness,” and we connect it to Proverbs 22:6 as raising a child according to their bent, plus Ephesians 6:4 as a warning not to crush what God planted. We end with two questions you can pray through, and one line that keeps ringing in my ears: force will get you what you want, grace will get you who you were made to be.
