We sit with God’s steady command “do not be afraid” and watch how faith begins when we act before we see the outcome. We connect the widow’s costly trust with Jesus’ call to be salt and light, then ask what it means to stop hiding and start showing up for others.
• God’s repeated command “do not be afraid” in moments of scarcity
• Elijah meeting the widow during famine and naming her despair
• trusting before the miracle and taking the next step without the full staircase
• giving out of poverty and watching fear give way to faith
• baptismal identity as salt of the earth and light of the world
• the danger of becoming spiritually bland or hiding faith in daily choices
• letting God work through us for someone who needs light right now
• the saints changing the world through availability, not power
So today ask yourself two questions. Where is God asking me to trust him more deeply? And where is God asking me to be light for someone else?
