  • Why Most Homeschool Moms Feel Like They're Failing
    2026/07/01

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I share a simple mindset shift that completely changed the way I viewed homeschooling. For years, I focused on what didn't get done, the lessons we missed, the plans that fell apart, and the expectations we couldn't meet. But everything changed when I stopped measuring my homeschool days by unfinished checklists and started looking at what we actually accomplished.

I introduce the concept of tracking daily wins instead of daily failures and explain why traditional planning methods often leave homeschool parents feeling discouraged. Homeschooling isn't a business, a factory, or a public school classroom. It's a family. When we focus on growth, connection, learning, and progress instead of perfection, we begin to see just how much is happening every single day.

In this episode, I also discuss:

    • Why homeschool schedules rarely go according to plan
    • How tracking daily wins creates more confidence and joy
    • Letting go of unrealistic expectations and perfectionism
    • Why relationships matter more than completed checklists
    • The importance of flexibility in homeschooling
    • Encouraging children to follow their interests and passions
    • Raising entrepreneurial-minded teens
    • Teaching business, responsibility, and real-world skills through hands-on projects
    • Helping teens discover their talents and strengths
    • Preparing children for a rapidly changing future
    • Using AI as a tool for learning and creativity
    • Why protecting childhood still matters in a technology-driven world
    • Creating educational opportunities based on a child's unique gifts

I also share exciting updates about my own children launching a family business together and how entrepreneurship has become a powerful learning experience that teaches leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, customer service, creativity, and responsibility in ways traditional education often cannot.

Toward the end of the episode, I reflect on a personal lesson I've been learning about faith, service, and receiving. As homeschool moms, we often focus on giving everything to everyone around us, but sometimes we forget that we're also meant to receive support, blessings, and opportunities. Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply allowing God to bless us.

This episode is a reminder that homeschooling success isn't measured by perfect schedules or completed curriculum. It's measured by growth, connection, learning, and the countless victories that happen every day when families learn and grow together.

  • The Bonfire Principle That Changed How I Homeschool
    2026/06/23

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I share one of the most personal and powerful stories from my homeschooling journey. More than 25 years ago, while wrestling with the decision to homeschool my children, I received a lesson that completely changed the way I viewed parenting, education, and my purpose as a mother. It became the foundation for everything I've built since, including My Homeschool Village and our newest project, Bonfire Academy.

I explain the difference between raising candles and raising bonfires, and why protecting, nurturing, and strengthening our children during their formative years can help them become powerful lights in the world later on. Homeschooling was never just about academics for me. It became a mission to help my children discover their gifts, develop confidence, build character, and prepare to make a meaningful impact wherever life takes them.

In this episode, I also discuss:

    • The story behind the creation of Bonfire Academy
    • Why homeschooling is about building strong, capable young adults
    • Helping teens discover their God-given gifts and purpose
    • Why character development matters more than curriculum
    • Mentorship and its role in the teen years
    • Entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and real-world skills for teenagers
    • Creating freedom-focused education pathways
    • Helping teens prepare for college, trades, business ownership, and life
    • Following a child's interests to ignite a love of learning
    • Why motivation grows when children pursue their passions
    • Raising independent thinkers and problem-solvers
    • The importance of protecting childhood while preparing for adulthood
    • Creating a family culture centered on growth, purpose, and contribution

I also answer questions from homeschool parents about teen motivation, entrepreneurship, online learning, curriculum flexibility, homeschool communities, business-building, and helping children discover who they are and what they love.

This episode is a reminder that homeschooling is not simply about teaching subjects. It's about building people. When we focus on helping our children become strong, confident, purpose-driven individuals, we aren't just raising children. We're raising bonfires that can light the world around them.

  • The Real Reason Your Child Won't Learn
    2026/06/12

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I share one of the most important lessons I've learned after more than two decades of homeschooling: healing must come before academics. Too many parents focus on curriculum, grade levels, and educational benchmarks while overlooking the emotional, physical, and mental health of the child sitting in front of them. When children are hurting, overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, or recovering from difficult experiences, learning becomes nearly impossible.

I explain why homeschooling should begin with helping children heal, grow, and feel safe before worrying about math worksheets, reading programs, or academic goals. We discuss how stress, trauma, poor sleep, unhealthy habits, bullying, and emotional struggles can prevent children from thriving, and what parents can do to create an environment where learning naturally returns.

In this episode, I also discuss:

    • Why healing should be the foundation of homeschooling
    • The connection between emotional health and learning
    • How trauma, bullying, and stress impact a child's ability to learn
    • Creating healthy habits around sleep, nutrition, exercise, and rest
    • Why homeschool families should prioritize healing over academics during difficult seasons
    • Understanding teenage development and growth spurts
    • Why many boys between ages 13 and 15 need significantly more sleep
    • Helping parents stop taking normal teenage behavior personally
    • Supporting struggling and unmotivated learners
    • Trusting your instincts as a homeschool parent
    • The importance of community and support during the homeschooling journey
    • Creating a safe learning environment where children can thrive
    • Why curiosity naturally returns when children feel healthy, safe, and supported

I also answer questions from parents about teenage motivation, homeschooling in Europe and Canada, curriculum choices, sleep habits, learning challenges, homeschool communities, and helping children navigate difficult developmental stages with confidence and grace.

This episode is a reminder that education is not just about information. It's about helping children become whole, healthy, resilient human beings. When healing comes first, learning often follows naturally.

  • How Homeschool Moms Can Earn an Income Without Leaving Their Kids
    2026/06/11

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I sit down with veteran homeschool mom and entrepreneur Kelly Crawford to tackle one of the biggest concerns homeschool families face: money. Whether you're trying to afford curriculum, find educational funding opportunities, or earn an income while staying home with your children, we discuss practical options that can help make homeschooling financially sustainable.

We break down the different state funding programs available to homeschoolers, including ESA-style programs, curriculum providers, and scholarship opportunities. I also share my thoughts on the benefits and trade-offs that can come with accepting government-funded homeschool assistance and why every family should understand the long-term implications before participating.

In this episode, we also discuss:

    • How ESA and state-funded homeschool programs work
    • Finding financial assistance for curriculum and educational resources
    • The pros and cons of government-funded homeschool programs
    • Ways homeschool moms can earn income from home
    • Affiliate marketing and sharing products you already use and love
    • Why freedom matters more than simply earning a paycheck
    • Avoiding business models that consume all your time and energy
    • Building flexible income streams around family life
    • Why homeschooling and entrepreneurship often go hand-in-hand
    • The importance of de-schooling your mindset
    • Simplifying homeschooling without expensive curriculum
    • Why copywork, reading, and real-life learning can be enough
    • Trusting your instincts as a homeschool parent
    • Helping children thrive outside traditional educational systems

We also answer questions from parents about getting started with homeschooling, balancing finances, curriculum choices, special needs concerns, ADHD labels, medical advocacy, music education, government funding, and overcoming the fears that often keep families from taking the leap into homeschooling.

This episode is a reminder that homeschooling doesn't have to mean choosing between your children and your financial stability. With the right mindset, resources, and support, families can build a lifestyle that allows both education and family life to flourish together.

  • What If Your Teen Never Needed Traditional High School?
    2026/06/06

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I sit down with veteran homeschool mom Kelly Crawford to discuss one of the most misunderstood topics in homeschooling: high school. Together, we challenge many of the assumptions parents have about diplomas, transcripts, college admissions, curriculum requirements, and what truly prepares teenagers for adulthood.

We share why the high school years should shift away from traditional academics and toward mentorship, life skills, financial literacy, work ethic, entrepreneurship, trades, college preparation, and helping teens discover their unique strengths and passions. Rather than forcing every child down the same path, we explore how homeschooling allows families to customize education around the individual child.

In this episode, we also discuss:

    • Why traditional high school may no longer be necessary for many students
    • Early college and trade school opportunities for homeschool teens
    • The difference between education and curriculum
    • Why transcripts matter more than diplomas
    • Helping teens prepare for military, college, entrepreneurship, or trades
    • Teaching financial literacy and real-world life skills
    • Why employers value character and work ethic over credentials
    • Homeschooling gifted, artistic, and non-traditional learners
    • Sports, music, theater, and extracurricular opportunities for homeschoolers
    • Raising independent learners who take ownership of their education
    • The importance of delayed academics and play in the early years
    • Trusting your parental instincts when making educational decisions
    • Understanding homeschooling through different developmental stages

We also answer live questions from parents about military pathways, high school transcripts, college admissions, homeschooling special needs children, extracurricular activities, curriculum choices, speech therapy concerns, autism diagnoses, and navigating state homeschool requirements.

This episode is a powerful reminder that homeschooling is not about checking boxes or following a predetermined system. It’s about raising capable, confident young adults who know who they are, understand their strengths, and are prepared to build meaningful lives on their own terms.

  • Why Public School Is Draining So Many Kids
    2026/06/03

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I talk about one of the biggest mindset shifts homeschool parents can make: realizing that traditional high school paths are not the only route to success. From accreditation myths to college admissions, entrepreneurship, trades, and early college options, I break down how homeschool families can think outside the box and help teens pursue education in a way that actually fits who they are.

I share why accredited curriculum is often unnecessary, how many homeschool teens can begin college or trade programs earlier than expected, and why confidence, maturity, and direction matter far more than checking off traditional school boxes. We also talk about helping teens discover their gifts, passions, and future goals instead of simply surviving the system.

In this episode, I also discuss:

    • Why many universities do not require accredited homeschool curriculum
    • Early college opportunities for homeschool teens
    • Helping entrepreneurial teens create income and purpose early
    • Trade school vs. traditional college paths
    • Why return on investment matters when choosing higher education
    • Raising confident, self-directed young adults
    • The emotional and mental toll of public school environments
    • Why many struggling teens need healing before academics
    • ADHD, dyslexia, burnout, and public school trauma
    • The importance of sleep, nutrition, emotional safety, and freedom
    • How homeschooling strengthens family relationships long-term
    • Why homeschool graduates often become deeply confident and independent adults

I also answer live questions from moms about graduation ceremonies, diplomas, transcripts, public school burnout, de-schooling teenagers, IEPs, New York homeschool laws, and helping struggling teens rediscover confidence and motivation.

This episode is a powerful reminder that homeschooling is not about recreating school at home. It’s about helping children heal, grow, discover who they are, and build a future based on their strengths, passions, and God-given potential.

  • Why Your Child Might NOT Be Ready to Read Yet
    2026/05/28

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, Kelly Crawford and I dive into one of the biggest fears homeschool parents face: reading delays and the pressure to keep children “on grade level.” We share personal stories from our own homeschool journeys and explain why many so-called “late readers” are actually developing exactly as they should.

We discuss how unrealistic expectations from traditional education systems create unnecessary fear, stress, and shame for both parents and children. Instead of forcing academics before children are ready, we talk about creating environments where curiosity, stories, and learning naturally come alive.

In this episode, we also cover:

    • Why many children learn to read later than schools expect
    • How pressure and comparison can damage confidence
    • The difference between schooling and true education
    • Helping reluctant readers fall in love with stories
    • Why audiobooks, copywork, and read-alouds are powerful tools
    • The connection between language development and hearing, speaking, reading, and writing
    • Teaching reading without expensive curriculum
    • Why boys often develop reading skills later
    • Understanding math-brained vs. language-brained children
    • Using games, manipulatives, and movement to teach math naturally
    • How ADHD children learn differently
    • Why homeschoolers should stop teaching to standardized tests
    • Creating a home environment that sparks curiosity and independent learning

We also answer live questions from homeschool moms about math struggles, curriculum overwhelm, Montessori methods, public school detoxing, testing requirements, and how to support children with different learning styles and personalities.

This episode is a reminder that children are not machines following identical timelines. Homeschooling gives families the freedom to honor each child’s unique pace, gifts, interests, and learning style while building a lifelong love of learning.

  • Why “Struggling” Kids Are Often the Most Brilliant
    2026/05/25

In this episode of HOMESCHOOL REVOLUTION, I dive deep into one of the most important conversations homeschool parents can have: how to help children who struggle inside traditional education systems finally thrive. From dyslexia and ADHD to anxiety, sensory challenges, and emotional overwhelm, I share what I’ve learned after homeschooling five children for over 24 years, including raising dyslexic kids myself.

I open up about the emotional journey of watching my own children struggle with reading, confidence, and self-esteem before discovering that many so-called “learning disabilities” are actually signs of different kinds of brilliance. I share how the book The Dyslexic Advantage completely changed the way our family approached education and helped my children begin seeing themselves as capable, intelligent, and gifted instead of “behind.”

In this episode, we also talk about:

    • Why ADHD and dyslexia can become superpowers in the right environment
    • How public school environments can increase anxiety and emotional dysregulation
    • The importance of safety, sleep, nutrition, and emotional connection before academics
    • Why homeschool environments help many children finally relax and learn
    • How to identify different learning styles and strengths
    • Raising mechanically-minded vs. language-minded children
    • Practical homeschooling encouragement for foster and adopted children
    • Helping reluctant readers and writers gain confidence
    • Why many homeschool families struggle during the 10–14 age transition
    • The power of co-ops, community, and finding support as a homeschool parent
    • How My Homeschool Village was created to support overwhelmed homeschool moms

I also answer questions from parents about IEPs, public school burnout, homeschooling one child, curriculum overwhelm, co-ops, online learning, and balancing homeschooling with work and family life.

This episode is a powerful reminder that children are not one-size-fits-all, and that many kids who feel “behind” in traditional systems are actually incredibly gifted when they’re given the freedom, support, and environment they truly need to flourish.
