Secret Ways to Sneak Learning Into Summer While Making Core Memories

Do you ever feel guilty that you're not "doing enough" during the summer?

Maybe you've walked past the summer workbook displays at Target or Costco and wondered if your kids are forgetting everything they learned this year.

As homeschool moms, it's so easy to feel like we need to keep school going all summer long.

But what if some of the most valuable learning your child will ever do doesn't happen with a workbook?

What if it happens while making homemade lemonade, catching lightning bugs, building forts, baking cookies, going on road trips, or simply spending time together?

In this episode of Homeschool Made Easy, I'm sharing some of my favorite ways to sneak learning into everyday summer adventures—without your kids ever feeling like they're "doing school."

Because here's the truth I hope every homeschool parent walks away with:

You don't have to choose between making memories and educating your kids.

    You get to do both.

We'll explore simple activities you can do in your kitchen, backyard, on vacation, during road trips, at the library, and even while running everyday errands that naturally build math, reading, writing, science, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and life skills.

Most importantly, we'll talk about why the real magic isn't the activity itself...

It's the connection you're building while you're doing it.

    Because children rarely remember worksheets.

    They remember moments.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

✨ Why the best summer learning doesn't look like school

✨ How to stop worrying about the "summer slide"

✨ Simple kitchen activities that secretly teach math, writing, life skills, and entrepreneurship

✨ Backyard adventures that build science, engineering, creativity, and problem-solving

✨ Easy ways to turn vacations, road trips, libraries, and everyday errands into meaningful learning experiences

✨ Conversation starters and connection activities that strengthen communication, storytelling, and family relationships

✨ Why thinking like a teacher changes the way you see everyday life

✨ One simple mindset shift that will completely change the way you homeschool this summer

Why More Families Are Choosing Homeschooling (And Why You Keep Thinking About It)

Are you wondering if homeschooling might be right for your family?

Maybe you've noticed more homeschool families on Instagram. Maybe YouTube keeps recommending homeschool videos. Or maybe you've caught yourself researching homeschool curriculum late at night - even though you told yourself you were just curious.

If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.

As a former public school teacher who once swore she'd never homeschool, I know exactly what it's like to wrestle with that question.

In this episode, we're talking about why more families are exploring homeschooling than ever before... not because I'm trying to convince you to homeschool, but because I believe it's worth asking better questions.

    We'll discuss:

    • Why parents are rethinking what education can look like
    • Why personalized learning matters more than ever
    • Why so many families are prioritizing relationships over rushing through childhood
    • How our rapidly changing world is changing the skills our kids need
    • Why homeschooling is about bringing learning home - not recreating public school

Whether you're seriously considering homeschooling or simply wondering why you can't stop thinking about it, I hope this episode gives you the freedom to explore the question with confidence.

Because every child learns differently... and every child deserves an education that's made just for them.

    2026/07/01
Your Child Doesn't Hate Learning... They Hate How They're Learning

Does your child groan the second you pull out the math book?

Do reading lessons end in tears?

Have you ever caught yourself wondering...

"Maybe my child just doesn't like learning."

If so, this episode is for you.

In this episode of Homeschool Made Easy, I'm sharing a simple moment with my oldest son that completely changed the way I think about motivation.

When he came home from public school frustrated with his math homework, I didn't change the math.

    I didn't lower the expectations.

    I didn't buy a new curriculum.

I simply changed the way he experienced the lesson.

That one small shift reminded me of something I wish every homeschool parent knew:

The learning goal stays the same. The vehicle changes.

If you've ever felt like your child hates math, reading, writing, or homeschool in general, this episode will help you look at those struggles through a completely different lens. You'll walk away with a practical strategy you can use this week to help your child connect with what they're learning—without throwing out your curriculum or spending hours planning new lessons.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

✨ Why frustration and lack of motivation are not the same thing

✨ The surprising lesson my son's math homework taught me

✨ Why kids who "hate school" often love learning

✨ What classroom teachers actually do when a lesson isn't working

✨ The difference between changing the learning goal and changing the vehicle

✨ A simple mindset shift that can make homeschooling feel easier

✨ One challenge you can try this week to personalize any lesson

Choosing Homeschool Curriculum? Do This Before You Buy Anything

Have you ever spent hours researching homeschool curriculum... only to end up more confused than when you started?

    You're not alone.

In this episode of Homeschool Made Easy, I'm sharing one of the biggest mistakes I made as a first-year homeschool mom. I bought too much curriculum, spent way too much money, watched every review I could find, and put so much pressure on myself to choose the "perfect" homeschool curriculum.

    But looking back...

    The problem wasn't the curriculum.

The problem was that I spent more time researching curriculum than I did getting to know the little boy I was buying it for.

If you've been scrolling social media, watching homeschool curriculum reviews, comparing yourself to other homeschool families, or wondering which homeschool curriculum is "the best," this episode is for you.

I'm sharing the mindset shift that completely changed the way I homeschool, why understanding your child should always come before buying curriculum, and a simple challenge you can do this summer that will make choosing curriculum so much easier.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

✨ Why there is no such thing as the "perfect" homeschool curriculum

✨ The biggest mistake I made during my first year homeschooling

✨ How social media can make choosing curriculum even more overwhelming

✨ What classroom teachers actually do with curriculum (and why it matters)

✨ Why every child learns differently - and why your curriculum should reflect that

✨ A simple one-week challenge to help you better understand your child as a learner

✨ How understanding your learner makes every homeschool decision easier

  • 1 // Welcome to Homeschool Made Easy & Why I Left the Classroom Behind
    2026/07/01

Have you ever wondered if you're doing enough as a homeschool parent?

    You're not alone.

In the very first episode of Homeschool Made Easy, I'm sharing the story I never thought I'd tell - the journey from spending fourteen years as a public school teacher to becoming a homeschool mom.

    Here's the funny part...

Homeschooling wasn't on my bingo card.

In fact, when my second grader asked if he could be homeschooled, my answer was an immediate, "Absolutely not."

    So... what changed?

In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my own journey, sharing why I left the classroom, what finally opened my eyes to the power of personalized learning, and the biggest mistake I made when I first started homeschooling my own kids.

If you've ever found yourself comparing your homeschool to everyone else's, stressing over curriculum, or wondering if you're doing enough, this episode will remind you that the goal isn't to recreate public school at home.

The goal is to teach the child in front of you.

In this episode, we'll talk about:
    • Why I left the classroom after 14 years in education
    • The surprising reason I originally said "no" to homeschooling
    • What my son taught me about personalized learning
    • The biggest mistake I made as a former teacher turned homeschool mom
    • Why every child deserves an education that's made just for them
    • One simple question that can completely change the way you homeschool
