In Hosea’s marriage to Gomer, we see a vivid picture of God’s redeeming love. Though Gomer is unfaithful and enslaved, Hosea pursues her, pays the price for her freedom, and restores her as his own—mirroring the way Christ redeems us. Redemption begins with the initiating love of a Redeemer, requires a ransom to set us free, and calls for a new allegiance to Him. Through the cross, Jesus bankrupts Himself to buy us back, transforming our pride into humility and our slavery into freedom.

In this message, we look at the story of Mephibosheth—King Saul’s crippled grandson whom King David invites to eat at his table. This powerful passage paints a beautiful picture of God’s grace toward us. Just as David showed undeserved kindness to Mephibosheth, God brings us into His family through Jesus, calling us His sons and daughters. Through this story, we’ll explore what it means to be adopted by God, to sit at His table, and to live in the security of His love.

In the first message of our Kaleidoscope series, we explore salvation through the lens of justification. In Zechariah 3, Joshua the high priest stands before God clothed in filthy garments—an image of our guilt before a holy Judge. But God removes his iniquity and clothes him with pure vestments, pointing to the greater Joshua—Jesus Christ—who takes our sin upon Himself and gives us His righteousness. Through faith in Him, we are declared justified, forgiven, and made new.

In Acts 9:31, we see a church walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit—and as a result, it multiplies. As we step into a new season at HCC, this verse becomes our vision and prayer: that we would be a people who walk closely with God and multiply disciples. This message invites us to focus on the “underground work” of our souls—cultivating a deep relationship with Jesus that overflows into spiritual growth, generosity, and disciple-making.

The early church was marked by a radical generosity that flowed from receiving God’s great grace. In Acts 4:32–37, believers freely shared their possessions, ensuring no one was in need, and Barnabas is highlighted as an example of this Spirit-led generosity. This passage reminds us that generosity isn’t about compulsion or rule-keeping, but about the reflex of grace. When we’ve been transformed by the generosity of Christ, we can’t help but extend that same generosity to others.

After Peter and John are threatened and released, the early church responds not with fear but with prayer. United in heart, they lift their voices to the Sovereign Lord, grounding their requests in Scripture and asking not for safety but for greater boldness to proclaim the gospel. Their example shows us how to pray with reverence, conviction, and expectation, trusting the Spirit to empower faithful witness.

When Peter and John are arrested and brought before the same council that condemned Jesus, they refuse to stay silent. Filled with the Holy Spirit, they proclaim that salvation is found in no one else and boldly obey God rather than men. This passage shows that true boldness isn’t about personality or volume—it’s the Spirit-empowered courage to honor God in the face of opposition and to speak the truth with both conviction and love.

In Acts 3, Peter and John heal a crippled man and boldly proclaim the gospel, continuing the very things Jesus did throughout His ministry. This passage reminds us that the church is called to embody both compassion and proclamation—bringing healing to a broken world and grace to a lost one. As the body of Christ, we are sent out to continue His ministry until He returns to make all things new.
