  • Rapper Erica Banks Arrested in Georgia on Drug-Distribution Charges
    2025/12/09
Rapper Erica Banks was arrested Monday after police found drugs during a traffic stop in Georgia.
The 27-year-old artist was riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by Amani Dirton when officers from Brookhaven Police Department pulled the car over — officers allegedly noticed the license plate was covered.
During a search, officers reportedly found numerous ecstasy pills in Erica Banks’ purse, plus “several packets” of marijuana on Dirton.
Banks was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute. Dirton faces multiple charges, including theft by receiving stolen property, improper display of a license plate, and marijuana-distribution charges.
This marks a second legal incident for Banks this year — in August, she was arrested at the Atlanta airport after TSA officers reportedly found a stolen handgun in her carry-on.
She has not yet commented publicly on the most recent arrest.

  • Max B Delivers Energetic Return Performance at “Welcome Home” Show
    2025/11/18
“After more than a decade away, the Wave God is officially back.
Max B made his long-awaited return to the public eye on November 9th… and the city felt it immediately. The Harlem legend—whose career was cut short in 2009 after legal troubles led to a 16-year sentence—wasted no time shaking the room. Hours after being released, he popped out at a New York Jets game, letting the world know: Max B is outside again. Just days later, Max B hit the stage for his ‘Welcome Home’ show at Salsa Con Fuego… and it was sold out. Fans packed the venue to watch the Wave perform classics like ‘I Gotta Habit’ and ‘Sexy Love’, records that helped define his sound during the mid-2000s. But this wasn’t just a comeback performance—this was a teaser for what’s next. On social media, Max B shared footage from the studio… standing side-by-side with French Montana and producer Harry Fraud. Three names… one room… one wave. Max captioned it: ‘Three legends. One room. One Wave. History in the studio. Stay tuned.’ And if that wasn’t enough? Max dropped another hint, saying: ‘Working on the G-Day. Coke Wave 3 loading.’ That means what everyone hoped is now on the horizon…
Coke Wave 3 might actually be coming. Max B is home.
    The Wave is rising.
    And hip-hop is watching.”

  • Harlem Rapper Max B Released from Prison After 16 Years
    2025/11/10
"Harlem legend Max B is finally free. After serving more than 16 years behind bars, the rapper known as Wavy Crockett has officially walked out of prison — and the streets are celebrating." "Max B was originally hit with a 75-year sentence back in 2009 for his alleged role in a deadly New Jersey robbery. But in 2016, that conviction was overturned and reduced after a plea deal for aggravated manslaughter — setting the stage for today’s long-awaited release." "Earlier this year, Max B called into The Joe Budden Podcast and spoke it into existence — saying, ‘We got a date! November 9th, 2025, baby!’ And today, that vision became reality." "French Montana, his day-one collaborator, confirmed the news online — writing, ‘Can’t make this up! My brother really came home on my birthday! Hamdulillah! Walked it down! No more free you!’" "Max B’s wavy influence shaped an entire era of hip-hop — from A$AP Mob to Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West, Drake, and The Weeknd — all inspired by his signature sound and unshakable confidence."

  • Austin Reaves Drops Career-High 51 Points to Lead Lakers Past Kings
    2025/10/27
Austin Reaves delivered a performance for the ages — dropping a career-high 51 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 127–120 win over the Sacramento Kings. With LeBron James and Luka Dončić both out, Reaves stepped into the spotlight and owned it — adding 11 rebounds and 9 assists, just one shy of a triple-double. From deep threes to fearless drives, Reaves was in complete control, answering every Sacramento run with clutch shots and electric energy. He became only the fourth undrafted player in NBA history to score 50 or more points, joining an elite list of Lakers legends to reach that milestone. When the game was on the line, Reaves didn’t hesitate — he took over. A breakout performance that not only sealed the win… but announced to the league that Austin Reaves has truly arrived.

  • Hit-Boy and The Alchemist Drop Joint Album “Goldfish”
    2025/10/27
Hit-Boy and The Alchemist Drop Joint Album “Goldfish” Two of hip-hop’s most respected producers, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist, are stepping out of the studio shadows and into full artist mode with their new album Goldfish, arriving October 24. Instead of only supplying beats for other stars, they are front and center. The rollout includes the album itself, a short film, and a lead single that shows both producers trading bars and crafting beats for one another. The creative chemistry is impossible to ignore. Why This Collaboration Is Special Hit-Boy and The Alchemist come from different corners of the hip-hop landscape.
    • The Alchemist built his legacy with gritty, underground classics and elite lyricists.
    • Hit-Boy has dominated the mainstream with major chart-topping hits and award-winning production.
Together, they combine raw hip-hop roots with polished, cinematic execution. Their decision to rap throughout the project adds a fresh layer, proving they are more than just producers behind the boards. What to Expect from “Goldfish” This isn’t a simple beat-tape.
    Expect:
    • Story-driven creativity supported by the upcoming short film
    • Hard-hitting drums, soulful textures and clever wordplay
    • A curated lineup of high-profile features thanks to both of their long-standing industry relationships
    • A bold example of producers leading their own narrative instead of playing a background role Why This Release Matters Goldfish represents a shift in how producer-artists move in the industry. They are showing that owning the music, the visuals, and the rollout can build a stronger brand and higher long-term value. It is a blueprint for creators looking to build their own IP instead of only supporting others.

  • Keyshia Ka’Oir Fires Back at Nicki Minaj via Cardi B Clip Amid Gucci Mane Drama
    2025/10/22
Gucci Mane’s wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, has responded to Nicki Minaj after the rapper accused her of keeping Gucci “sedated.” The tense exchange erupted following Gucci Mane and Ka’Oir’s recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, where they discussed his mental health and how Ka’Oir helps manage his social media use. The Lead-Up During the interview, Ka’Oir opened up about how she supports Gucci Mane through his mental-health challenges. She explained that she often limits his phone and social media access to protect his peace, saying: “You realize you haven’t known about any other episodes since September 13. That’s because I control that. … You’re not going on Instagram … I’m controlling everything at home.” Shortly after the episode aired, Nicki Minaj took to social media and aimed a series of harsh messages at Ka’Oir. Minaj claimed that Ka’Oir had been “trying to be me for years” and was “keeping Gucci sedated.” She also accused Ka’Oir of seeking attention and suggested that Gucci harbors resentment toward his former manager, Debra Antney. Minaj further criticized radio host Charlamagne tha God, calling him a “fraud” and accusing The Breakfast Club team of orchestrating “disgusting ploys.” The Response In what many saw as a subtle but powerful clapback, Keyshia Ka’Oir posted an Instagram video of herself vibing to a Cardi B track. Given the long-running feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, fans quickly interpreted the post as Ka’Oir’s indirect response. She captioned the clip: “I’m like nah…….since when ….. out here embarrassing ….” The Bigger Picture The feud highlights how intertwined personal relationships and public perception can be in hip-hop culture. What began as a discussion about Gucci Mane’s mental health spiraled into a social-media firestorm involving some of the biggest names in rap. Ka’Oir’s response not only showed confidence but also hinted at where she stands in the broader landscape of women in hip-hop. While she didn’t address Minaj directly, her decision to use a Cardi B song spoke volumes. Why It Matters
    • Mental Health and Image Control: The incident began with a genuine discussion about mental wellness and evolved into a debate about control, visibility, and influence.
    • Industry Power Plays: It also exposed ongoing tensions between artists and their inner circles, showing how loyalty and rivalry often overlap in hip-hop.
    • Public Perception: For Gucci Mane, the situation adds another layer to how his fans perceive his comeback story and marriage.
What’s Next It remains to be seen whether Nicki Minaj will escalate the situation or if Keyshia Ka’Oir will address the issue more directly. For now, her understated Cardi B post appears to have made its point — quiet, confident, and calculated.

  • Nicki Minaj Says She’s Quitting Music After Feud With Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez
    2025/10/16
This is Spate News bringing you the latest in hip hop headlines and industry drama.
Nicki Minaj has shocked fans by announcing that she’s stepping away from music — and according to her, Jay-Z is one of the main reasons why.
In a fiery post on social media, Nicki revealed that she’s done with releasing new music and shelving her upcoming album. She claimed Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez tried to patch things up with her, even asking for a new tour and album, but she refused.
Nicki also accused Perez of serious wrongdoing, using strong language to call her out directly. She went on to say Jay-Z was willing to let Perez take the fall alone and ended her post with a final message to fans: “I’m not putting out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now, Jay-Z. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”
This isn’t the first time Nicki has called out Jay-Z or Roc Nation. She’s previously criticized them over industry decisions, including the Super Bowl halftime show lineup and Tidal’s payout issues following its sale in 2021.
At the same time, Nicki has been locked in a heated back-and-forth with Cardi B online — extending the tension even further across the hip hop world.
Whether this marks a true retirement or just another chapter in Nicki’s career remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure — the Queen of Rap has once again set the internet on fire.
