The fourth and final part of our Box Office Bomb Season of podcasts is here, and this week, we look back at the criminally overlooked, and surprisingly insane, Hard Rain. This 1998 thriller / heist movie / neo western / action movie / Die Hard alike / Speed alike is, well, it's a lot of things. Tonally, it's all over the map, the script is wildly inconsistent, and many of the actors appear to be performing in different movies, but despite its issues, this remains a wildly entertaining ride, one that is well worth revisiting today. Listen in via your podcast platform of choice as we rewatch one of the stranger action movies of the 90s.

The third part of our Box Office Bomb season of podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at, what by some estimations, might be the biggest box office bomb of them all, 1999's, The 13th Warrior. A mess behind the scenes, this was a movie beset by huge delays, numerous reshoots and a major re-edit by producer, Michael Crichton that went a long way towards pushing the budget of well north of a 150 million dollars. With a budget as big as that, it was always likely that John McTiernan's dark historical epic would lose money.....but what of the movie itself? Has this cult classic aged like a fine wine? Does it deserve greater recognition? Did it survive the messy editing process? Listen in via your podcast platform of choice to find out.

The second part in our box office flop season of podcasts is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at the movie that 'supposedly' killed the pirate genre. That's up for debate, but what isn't is the fact that Cutthroat Island lost a huge amount of money, arguably did irreparable damage to both Gina Davis and Matthew Modine's careers, and ended up putting its production company, Carolco Pictures out of business. Yeah, Renny Harlin's pirate epic was an unequivocal financial disaster.....but what of the movie itself? Is it better than its meagre box office and rotten reputation would suggest? Is it worth giving this often overlooked swashbuckling extravaganza another go? Listen in via your podcast platform of choice to find out.

The first part of our Box Office Bomb Season of podcasts is here, and yes, I know, 1995's Waterworld wasn't actually a flop. in fact, it ended up making money. Yes, that is true, but for a time, it was seen by many as the quintessential movie flop, a film dragged down by its reputation, but one that, well, might be worth revisiting. Has time been kind to Kevin Costner's watery epic? Was its only true sin that it cost a lot to make? Listen in via your podcast platform of choice to find out.

This week on the Hey You Guys Podcast, Liam and Rob look back at one of the stranger movies from the early 90s, Brad Pitt's cult curio, Cool World. With a massively uneven tone, some sketchy animation and an aesthetic that many will likely find crass, Cool World was never going to be the home run that Who Framed Roger Rabbit was four years earlier. Still, that Ralph Bakshi animation style is nothing if not utterly unique, and in Kim Basinger's, Holli Would, it might well be home to the sexiest animated character even committed to celluloid. So yes, it's weird, it's outrageously horny, but is it worth revisiting, and does it hold up more than 30 years later? Listen in to find out via your podcast platform of choice.

Episode 250 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, we look back at a movie that has definitely fallen off the radar in the last decade or so....I wonder why? Yes, the decision to have the very white and Jewish, Fisher Steven play the very brown and Indian, Ben, feels completely out of touch by moderns standards....but also, is Fisher Stevens actually kinda good as Ben? Is Steve Guttenberg arguably more miscast as the 'supposed' genius, Newton Crosby? And what of Ally Sheedy's, well, remarkable performance as the animal loving, Stephanie Speck? Needless to say, love it or hate it, 1986's, Short Circuit is nothing if not interesting. Listen in via your podcast platform of choice to see what we made of it.

Episode 249 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Bryan Singers neo-noir masterpiece, 1995's, The Usual Suspects. Whether it be its much celebrated screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie, Bryan Singer's wonderful direction or its impeccable cast, there are many reasons to love The Usual Suspects.....but does it hold up in 2026? And have Singers and Spacey's much discussed legal issues pushed this 90s classic out of the limelight? Listen in via your podcast platform of choice to find out.

Episode 248 of the Hey You Guys Podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob are looking back at a film that scarred a generation of young movie goers. Sure, it's a kids movie based on one of Roald Dahl's most beloved books, but then it also has Anjelica Huston Huston giving one of the most memorable...and disturbing performances of her career as the Grand High Witch. Does the movie hold up though? Do those Jim Henson created effects still look as great today as they did in 1990? Are The Witches as scary as they used to be? Oh, and did everyone else always know that half the witches were played by dudes? Anywho, listen in via your podcast platform of choice to see what we made of this beloved kids horror comedy classic.
