  • BONUS: The 4-Way Intersection of Spiritual Warfare, Mental Illness, Social Media & Transgenderism
    2025/04/08

    SURPRISE!

Yes, Head to Heart ended back in September 2024, but I couldn't refuse an amazing opportunity to interview Dr. Natalie Atwell!

No, I’m not continuing the podcast.

No, I’m not back on Instagram.

No, you cannot count on more episodes like these randomly releasing, BUT...

Dr. Natalie Atwell brings over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. From her role as a practice owner and clinical director to her educational endeavors in college teaching, Dr. Atwell has been able to encourage individuals, groups, and organizations by sharing hope and healing from God’s word.

Her specialty is the intersection between spiritual warfare and mental health - what a DREAM guest!

    We tackle questions such as:

Why does the idea of spiritual warfare being some/all of the reason behind mental illness cause offense and defensiveness in some Christians?

    Can a Christian be possessed?

Can a Christian have a demonic stronghold or oppression?

How can we discern what the root cause of mental health struggles are? (whether they are spiritual or mental)

What would you say to a believer who has been recommended they start medication, but they feel hesitant about it?

What are some of the things that can open doors for the demonic?

Transgenderism - why so much so fast in the USA?

Does spiritual warfare come through social media? How does that work?

What are you currently seeing in clients through their experiences with Tik Tok or Instagram?

For someone who’s feeling incredibly lonely and feels like they have a scrolling addiction, what is your advice for them?

What would you say to someone who struggles with their sexual identity or gender identity? What’s really going on in the spiritual realm?

What characteristics or struggles have you observed in Gen Z in your years of experience that are different from generations past?

What will it take to reach Gen Z with the Gospel?

  • S5E19: How To Reconstruct Your Faith Instead of Deconstructing Into Oblivion
    2024/09/20

Look out, world: Victoria Hedger is making her 3rd debut on the podcast!

From ages 18 - 20, Victoria was very disoriented in her faith. Doubt and questions turned into confusion, bitterness, offense, and a hardened heart. God was faithful to bring her through that dark time, but He did not stop there. He redeems and heals everything we bring to Him in surrender.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    - Is using the term "deconstruction" more harmful than it is helpful?

    - How can you doubt in a way that will lead to your reconstructing your faith (not keeping you in bitterness or unanswered questions)?

    - What can you do to support a friend going through a disorienting time in her faith journey?

  • TOP #1: How To Heal From Sexual Trauma
    2024/09/06

DISCLAIMER: We talk about sexual assault and the traumatic effects of it. Please use discretion before listening.

When sexual assault happens, whether if it is one incident or repeated over a long time, how do you heal afterwards?

What if you don't know the details of the assault?

Do you fear you're 'just being dramatic'?

I have great news for you: You are able to heal from trauma and the lies that may come with it even if you do not know the details of the traumatic event(s).

In many ways, healing through trauma can feel unfair. You may feel like it is a debt you've been given and now it is your responsibility to figure out how to heal from it. Jody Goldie (yes, that is her real name) is a therapist who works with people who suffer from complex trauma.

She shares her own personal experience and puts language to the confusing messages your body may be telling you after it experiences trauma. Your body remembers what happened to you, even if your brain cannot piece a story together.

Your future does not have to look like your past.

  • S5E17: How To Stop Being a Bandwagoner & Start Being an Actual Advocate
    2024/08/30

    HOST TAKEOVER EPISODE

Mackenzie Ryder is your host on this week's episode!

Human trafficking can sound broad, vague, and far away. Mackenzie not only corrects this view, but also gives simple action steps to stop merely claiming you're an advocate or a "voice for the voiceless" & start taking an approach that has dignity, credibility and won't leave you feeling overwhelmed or helpless at the thought of serving with an anti-trafficking organization.

Don't just SAY you're an advocate - BE ONE.

  • S5E16: Is It a Sin To Not Have Kids?
    2024/08/23

In this solo episode, I share the story of how God convicted me of the sin I had chosen to live in for 2 years.

Romans 14:23 says, "Whatever is not done in faith is sin."

There are SO MANY reasons you could choose to not become a parent, but some of the most popular are

    "We can't afford it."

"Why would I bring a child into this evil, broken world?"

"I won't have any time for myself or my marriage."

"What if ____(fill in the blank)_____?"

My goal with this episode is not to convince you to have kids. I simply want to help you discern what God has for you. The main question I will help you tackle is:

"How can I stop letting fear be my master in the decision to have/not have kids?"

  • S5E15: How To Heal From Family Trauma
    2024/08/16

Ellie Monjoseph is a nurse, trauma-sensitive somatic practitioner & life coach who deeply encourages people that they absolutely CAN heal. In fact, God designed your mind and body to be able to heal. No matter what your family of origin was like, you are not doomed to repeat the same mistakes that were made in your childhood.

    We talk about:

    - What does it look like to honor your parents as the Bible commands us to...even when your parents made unhealthy choices for themselves and for you?

    - How can you start to forgive even when there hasn't been an apology?

    - What do triggers actually mean? How do you NOT JUST COPE with them, but HEAL through them?

    - How to co-regulate instead of being co-dependent

    - What is the difference between an ultimatum and boundaries?
