    On Wednesday, August 1, 1906 George Stanley was hanged. He was the last man executed at the Windsor County Jail. From that day on…. the town was never the same because while justice may have d been served many believe that Freeman Harvey, the man George Stanley so callously killed is not at rest. Judge Charles Edgar DeWolf, who lived in the area, reported seeing the apparition of a headless man in his basement window. He knew that parts of Harvey’s corpse had been found hidden under a pile of potatoes, and the judge was sure that he had seen Harvey’s ghost. Then, other strange things began to happen.     Just over 30 mins away from Canada’s capital city is a suburb located on the Rideau River that feels like a country getaway within Ottawa. It is a heritage village rooted in history with a perfect small-town charm. Named after the Ojibway word for “island in the river” by its founder, Moss Kent Dickinson, Manotick's has a very recognizable landmark. It is the only working museum in the Ottawa area and one of very few operating industrial grist mills in North America. Watson's Mill has also the home of Ann Currier, the wife of Joseph Currier since 1861.
